Weekend Events in Cumming, GA from 5/13 – 5/15

The weekend is almost here! I don’t know about you, but this month has been crazy busy with end of school year activities, girl scouts, sports, you name it! Soon everything will slow down to a summer pace. I hope your weekend is full of fun – here’s what’s going on in and around Forsyth County, GA. Friday May 13

12:00 PM – CFUMC Arts Festival Lunch and Music – John Richardson, Concert Organist. 30 minutes followed by lunch in the Art Cafe. Concert is free, lunch is $5.00.

5:00PM – 7:00PM – Sweet & Sassy at The Avenues Forsyth – Enjoy the Dolly & Me Event including party updos, polish, runway show, limo ride and pizza. Don’t forget your dolly! Call 770.781.0300 to reserve your spot.

The Post Office and United Way are sponsoring a food drive. Leave a bag of canned goods at your mailbox on Friday or Saturday, or drop off at the Cumming Post Office.

VFW Post 9143 is having a yard sale this Friday and Saturday! Bingo nights are alsoon Tuesday at 7:30 pm and Saturdays at 7:00 pm. Open to the public. Game cards start at $10.00. Children age 6 and up welcome with adult.

CFUMC Arts Festival this week – enjoy the arts and music festival with activities every day this week!

Saturday, May 14
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM St. Matthew’s Car Show – Cumming Fairgrounds

 

11:00AM- Barnes & Noble at The Avenues Forsyth – All aboard the storytime express as we read stories about a longtime favorite, Thomas the Tank Engine, and a new favorite, Chuggington. Great for kids 8 and under.

11:00 am – 8:00 pm – Lake Lanier Islands – Taste at the Lake – Drive up on your boat or in your car to eat, eat, and eat some more, we expect folks to enjoy the fun and fare. The show hours are 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., so plan to visit the Islands and taste what is good!!
Sunday, May 15

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm – Michaels Make it Take it – Princess gift tag event.

“M*A*S*H,” a production of the Gypsy Theatre company, will be through May 22. Times are 8 p.m. evenings and 3 p.m. Sunday matinees. For more information, go online at www.playhousecumming.com.

The Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band, conducted by Alice Bryan, will perform a patriotic concert at 7:30 p.m. May 14 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 3740 Holtzclaw Road. The concert will honor veterans. Tickets are $10. For more information, go online atwww.soundsofsawnee,com.

Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church will have its annual “Blessing of the Dogs” event from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 14. Free blessings will be at 9:45 a.m., noon and 4 p.m. Dog contests for a small entrance fee will be throughout the day. For more information, call Lisa Voss at (770) 889-0146. First Christian Church will host the Silver City Band, a local Christian country music group, at 5 p.m. May 15. Admission is free. Childcare will be provided. For more information, visit www.fccga.org.
