Weekend Events in Cumming, GA for 5/20 – 5/22, 2011

The weekend is almost here! Here is a lineup of some activities going on around Forsyth County, GA. We are wrapping up sports season with a tournament and an end of year school show! Enjoy.

Friday, May 20

Lakewood Antiques Market is open all weekend! $3.00 admission for 12 and older. See web site for times and details.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Brookwood Farmer’s Market – Grand Opening – support local farmers while enjoying entertainment at the grand opening event!

Saturday, May 21

10:00 – 11:00 am – Pike Nursery on Bethelview Road – Roses 101 – learn all about roses and how to plant and care for them in this free class.

10:00 am – 8:00 pm – Warbington FarmsStrawberry Country/Bluegrass Festival. Hay rides, music, a petting zoo, tasty strawberries, sounds decadent!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble Story Time at The Avenues Forsyth – In recognition of National Bike Month, we will have a special storytime reading of Mike and the Bike by Michael Ward. Great for kids 8 and under.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Lanier United Methodist Church, 1979 Buford Hwy., will have its May-Fest. There will be a bake sale, a craft sale, music, food, and more.

7:00 – VFW Post 9143 – Bingo! Come play bingo with our local heroes. Open to the public. Game cards start at $10.00. Children age 6 and up welcome with adult. Concessions, cash prizes.

Sunday, May 22

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at The Avenues Forsyth – Open House – See Us Before You Need Us! Moonwalk and face painting for the kids, meet and greet, tours, wellness screenings.

3:00 pm – CFUMC – The Cumming Playhouse singers will present “The Music of America,” directed by Van McCollum and accompanied by pianist Patricia Wester, at 3 p.m. May 22 at Cumming First United Methodist Church, 770 Canton Hwy. The concert features Americana, Broadway, and patriotic choral music, with hits by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and more. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from a Cumming Playhouse Singer or at the door;  there will be free admission for children 12 and under.

3:30 pm – The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Col. Hiram Parks Bell Chapter 2641, will have a tea party fundraiser at 3:30 p.m. May 22 at the Foster House in Cumming. Tickets are $18.
