Apple Pickin’ Jubilee at Hillcrest Orchards Through October 2011

Trip to Hillcrest Orchards

One of our family’s favorite things to do is to go to North Georgia and pick apples. The weather has finally cooled off and the apple orchards are open for business! Pack up a picnic basket and take your family to Ellijay, GA for the day!

Hillcrest Orchards debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee this weekend and it runs through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. Visit the playground, fly on a zip line and ride our giant slide down the mountain. There is a new kids play area for extra fun. You can even get your picture made on one of their live steers.

Visit the bakery and ice cream parlor for homemade fried apple pies, apple cider doughnuts, apple fritters, homemade ice cream and fudge. Wash it all down with some fresh cold apple cider. They will have the grill fired up outside in the festival area for hamburgers, hotdogs and barbecue along with Billy Bob;’s famous boiled peanuts, turkey legs and roasted corn. Hillcrest Orchards is open Daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sep. & Oct.) Admission is $6.00 per person. Click here for directionsand more information.
