Weekend Events in Cumming, GA for February 24 – 26, 2012

It’s been a short week for Forsyth County schools and the weekend’s already here! There’s lots to do this weekend. Here’s a roundup. Please comment and share if you know of any other family events this weekend.

Friday, February 24

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – MOPS Consignment Sale – Creekside Methodist Church 673 Peachtree Pkwy, Cumming GA – is having a children’s consignment sale this weekend. Come visit Creekside UMC for our semi-annual consignment sale.  There will be thousands of great bargains on children’s clothing, maternity clothing, baby furniture, baby equipment, toys, and much more.

11:15 am – Hampton Park LibraryMy Seuss-Colored Days Special Wee Read Storytime. Celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with stories, songs, and a puppet show! For ages 2-5 years

5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Sweet & Sassy at The Avenue Forsyth – Girls Night Out. Call 770.781.0300 to reserve your spot. Cost is $25 per girl.Creekside

Saturday, February 25

10:00 am – Lowes Build and Grow – Rumblin’ Race Car. Your child won’t want to miss this Jimmie Johnson #48 race car! This kit comes with stickers and rumblin’ race car sound effects.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels – Express Yourself Tote  – Fashion your own handcrafted tote bag. Make-It Take-It with purchase of bandana. While Supplies Last. Ages 3+.

 

11:00 am – Book Store Ribbon Cutting at Cumming Library – FCPL Friends and Advocates, an independent non-profit organization, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Book Store at the Cumming Library on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00am. The Book Store is open during the normal business hours of the Cumming Library and is staffed periodically by FCPL Friends & Advocates volunteers. At times when the Book Store is not staffed, patrons may still shop in the Book Store and then pay for their purchases at the Information desk.  Prices range from $0.50 for paperback books to $1 and up for hard covers and special items, such as first or antique editions or signed booked.

 

11:00 am – Barnes and Noble at The Avenue Forsyth – Story time. It’s an over-the-rainbow Storytime. Join us as we read all about colors. Great for all ages.

Humane Society of Forsyth County – Free Spay Day on Saturday, February 25 – In recognition of World Spay Day on February 28, 2012, the Humane Society of Forsyth County (HSFC) is sponsoring a FREE Spay Day for CATS on February 25, 2012.HSFC, in partnership with Dr. Tracey Land of Pet Vet, Inc. in Cumming, is working to qualify, schedule, and spay or neuter 80 cats on February 25.  This is a low-income assistance program for Forsyth County residents.  To qualify, proof of financial need is required (e.g., welfare, food stamps, disability, unemployment).  In addition, the cat must have a current rabies vaccination.  If it does not, s/he can be vaccinated for $15 on surgery day.  There is a $20 registration fee which will be refunded at Pet Vet on February 25. You must pre-register by calling HSFC at 770-887-6480.

 

New thrift store from No Longer Bound – 315 Dahlonega Hwy Cumming GA – No Longer Bound is proud to announce the launch of our new off-site thrift store in Cumming!!  We are currently hard at work with the construction and set-up of the new store, and we will be hosting our Grand Opening Saturday, February 25th from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm.  Check back with us often for updates on our progress.
