The holiday weekend is almost here! There are plenty of things to do in and around Forsyth County, GA. Enjoy!

Dixie dock dogsFriday, August 31

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Brookwood Farmers Market  – At a new location this year – Caney Creek Preserve. Lots of fun activities for the kids, fresh produce, unique crafts, musical entertainment and more!

5:00 pm – Mellow Mushroom at The Avenue Forsyth – Family Fun Friday. For the kids: Balloon Art at 5 PM, Medium Cheese Pizza $10, $3 Mel’s Kids Floats. For the Adults: Live music at 7:30 PM.

Saturday, September 1

7:00 am – Noon – Cumming Fairgrounds Farmer’s Market. Support local farmers and enjoy fresh produce, tasty baked goods and other neat finds.

9:00 am — 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop. Get ready for football season and build a goal post football game!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble storytime at The Avenues Forsyth. It’s a Storytime all about one of our favorite friends — Elmo! Join us as we lots of fun stories. Great for all ages!

dixie dock dogsFriday 8/31 – Monday 9/3 – Rucker Falling for DockDogs – Rucker Horse & Pet, 3450 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming, GA – Rucker Falling For DockDogs is an exciting 4-day event featuring Big Air®, Extreme Vertical®, Speed Retrieve ™, and Iron Dog. All dogs, both experienced dock divers and first-timers are welcome to participate in this DockDogs Regional competition with divisions for all dogs.

9/1 8:00 pm & 9/2 7:00 pm – IPRA World Championship Rodeo – Cumming Fairgrounds. This rodeo is a 7 event rodeo that includes: Bull Riding, Bare Back Riding, Barrel Racing, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and Saddle Bronc Riding. Admission: Seniors 65 and up $12.00, Adults $15.00, Kids 5-12 $10.00, Kids 4 and under free.

Monday 9/3 – Sweet & Sassy at The Avenue Forsyth – Labor Day Special. Party up-do, Just-a-Polish, Makeup application and limo ride! $25.00. Reservations required. Call 770-781-0300.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – 5 Burt’s Farm Rd Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The hayrides will be weekends only until October then the hayrides will be 7 days a week. Hayride cost: Adults $5.00, Kids 12 & under $4.00, infants 12 months and under free.

DOWNTOWN ATLANTA LABOR DAY EVENTS

From an Atlanta Braves game and two Chick-fil-A Kickoff college football games (Auburn vs. Clemson and Tennessee vs. NC State) to NASCAR races and the DragonCon Parade, there’s plenty of things to do downtown this weekend!

Also, the Allstate Tailgate Tour, a unique and interactive fan experience visiting college football stadiums across the country, will make a stop in Atlanta before the NCSU vs. Tennessee Chick-fil-A Kickoff game on Friday, August 31, and before the Clemson vs. Auburn Chick-fil-A Kickoff game on Saturday, Sept. 1.

At the tour, located in the Georgia World Congress Center (Building C), fans can create signs in support of their teams, play games for a chance to win tailgate items and take part in a variety of other family-friendly activities. Fans can also take commemorative pictures of themselves to share instantly on social media and enter the “Allstate 60 Seconds of Mayhem Sweepstakes” where two finalists will compete in a field goal kick competition at the Allstate Sugar Bowl to win a VIP trip to the 2013 BCS National Championship in Miami.

The Allstate Tailgate Tour will be open from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, and from 12:30 – 6 p.m. on Saturday. Fans can also visit www.allstatecfb.com to enter the “Allstate 60 Seconds of Mayhem Sweepstakes.”

  1. Also, there is going to be the largest free outdoor concert in the Southeast (or mayber U.S!) It’s sponsered by the FISH and will host some of the biggest artists in Christian music today! Going on all day Saturday, Sept. 1 at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta.

I have done programs for several area Churches and Day Care Centers and Balloon Twisting at Ryan’s (Dawsonville), Mall of Georgia, Alpharetta Fireworks Festival, Maria’s Italian Cafe and Hillcrest Apple Orchards.
