Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for September 28 – September 30, 2012.

The last weekend of September is here. I can’t believe it is already fall! Here are some fun family events in and around Forsyth County, GA for the weekend.

Friday, September 28

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Brookwood Farmers Market  – Caney Creek Preserve. Lots of fun activities for the kids, fresh produce, unique crafts, musical entertainment and more!

Saturday, September 29

8:00 am – 1:00 pm – Lake Lanier shore sweep. Join other volunteers in Forsyth County and help clean up the shore of Lake Lanier in this great day of service.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Petco, Marketplace Blvd., Cumming, GA – Humane Society of Forsyth County will be hosting a pet adoption day for dogs and cats only. The Humane Society of Forsyth County is a NO KILL animal shelter. For more info or to donate visit forsythpets.org.

11:00 am – 6:00 pm – Warbington Farms opens for the season! Enjoy family fun with a hey ride, inflatables, playground, petting zoo and more. Admission Weekends – $7 Per Child 12 & under – $3 Per Person 13 & Up.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble storytime at The Avenues Forsyth. Do you like cats and dogs? Then this is the Storytime for you. Join us as we read lots of fun stories about our furry friends. Great for all ages!

7:30 pm –  Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre – Movies in the Park showing of Ice Age 4: Continental Drift at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. This free rain or shine event is open to all ages. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau is partnering with Northside Hospital for the movie.

Sunday, September 30

2:30 pm – Warbington Farms – Farm story time. Included in Farm Park admission. $7 kids $3 adults.

NEARBY EVENTS IN NORTH GEORGIA

Alpharetta Art in the Park hits the downtown Alpharetta streets this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. After you purchase your favorite masterpiece, head over to the Alpharetta Farmers Market for some fresh fruits and vegetables and other edible goodies!

Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival from September 28 – October 28, 2012. Enjoy the beautiful fall colors and cooler weather at Atlanta’s favorite place to celebrate the fall season. Now in it’s 10th year, Stone Mountain Park’s annual Pumpkin Festival has become a family favorite with kids and parents alike. Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. | Lasershow at 8 p.m. Friday and Sunday 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Hillcrest Orchards – Apple Pickin’ Jubilee begins September 8! Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. 8 – Oct.) Admission is $6.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. Apple varieties: Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Pinata, Ambrosia, Gala & Honey Crisp with more coming in. Pig races are at 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm each day of the festival.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – 5 Burt’s Farm Rd Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The hayrides will be weekends only until October then the hayrides will be 7 days a week. Hayride cost: Adults $5.00, Kids 12 & under $4.00, infants 12 months and under free.

APPLE ORCHARDS/CORN MAZES/FARM FUN

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm and Kinsey Family Farm are also fun-filled places to visit.

Warbington Farms Opens for Fall Season on September 29, 2012.

They are having Pumpkin Palooza on October 13, 2012 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm. Free admission!

Corn Crib– let the kids play in our giant sandbox filled with corn.

Warbington Farms – 5555 Crow Road, Cumming, GA – pick a pumpkin, play at the fun park and buy fresh produce as well as shop for some crafts, jams, jellies, cider, apple bread, and other flavor breads!

11:00 am – Quarter Midget Racing – Cumming Fairgrounds -The North Georgia Quarter Midget Association welcomes you and your family to come out and watch the races. Admission is free; we have concessions and plenty of excitement for the whole family. Quarter Midget Racing is a family oriented sport for children ages 5 to 16. Children race in Quarter Midget cars that are a scaled-down (approximately 1/4 scale) version of an actual midget-racecar on oval tracks that are approximately 1/20th of a mile.
