From holiday craft shows to a pumpkin palooza festival, the calendar is brimming with ideas of fun family activities. Friday, November 2

10:00 am – 3:00 pm – Creekside UMC Holiday Showcase – Unique Christmas shopping with OVER 70 VENDORS providing gift and home decor items. 673 Peachtree Parkway, Bldg. A, Cumming, GA 30041.

Saturday, November 3

8:30 am – 1:00 pm – Christmas Bazaar at Cumming First United Methodist Church, 770 Canton Hwy, Cumming, GA  30040. Join us for breakfast and lunch at the Mountainside Cafe while you come shop early for Christmas. Enjoy our beautiful handmade crafts, gifts, and decorations, a special children’s shop (no adult allowed), select from hundreds of baked goods, and more!

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Rivers Alive. Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) is seeking volunteers to help clean local waterways. The 2012 Rivers Alive Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, at 9 a.m. and KFCB encourages families, scout troops and organizations to volunteer for the annual waterway cleanup event. Volunteer teams can register for the event by calling KFCB at 770.205.4573 or by sending an email to kfcb@forsythco.com. The registration deadline is Tuesday, October 30. Volunteers will meet at Mary Alice Park (1820 Mary Alice Park Road in Cumming) at 9 a.m. on November 3 to gather supplies. Volunteers will proceed to clean as many lake, river and wetland locations as possible before returning to Mary Alice Park for lunch.  To receive additional information about the 2012 Rivers Alive Cleanup, call KFCB at 770.205.4573.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot kids workshop on Marketplace Blvd., Cumming, GA – Build a turkey napkin holder for the holidays!

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Creekside UMC Holiday Showcase, 673 Peachtree Parkway, Bldg. A, Cumming, GA 30041.

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Pumpkin Palooza at the Sexton Hall Enrichment Center in Cumming, GA. Pumpkin Palooza will feature a variety of live music and entertainment for the entire family including arts and crafts, food, inflatables and more. A Chunkin’ Pumpkin contest will begin at 11 a.m. for different age groups and there will also be a scavenger hunt. Winners from the contest and scavenger hunt will receive a Pumpkin Palooza T-shirt.  Sexton Hall Enrichment Center is located at 2115 Chloe Road, just off of Sharon Road between Peachtree Parkway and Old Atlanta Road.  For more information, call Forsyth County Senior Services at 770.781.2178.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Avenue Forsyth Storytime – Who Wants to Be President? Join us for a storytime about the U.S. Presidents.

11:00 am – 2:00 pm – Kickin’ Chicken BBQ at Creekside Methodist Church, 673 Peachtree Parkway, Bldg. A, Cumming, GA 30041. Stop by the Kickin’ Chicken table on Sundays in the Atrium before and after worship services or at the event to purchase your tickets for the Annual Women’s Ministry Kickin’ Chicken. Ticket purchase will allow free admission to the MOPS Holiday Showcase. Tickets are $7 with a choice of either a succulent pulled BBQ chicken sandwich or a delicious bowl of homemade chicken chili. Both options will be served as a meal with sides and a drink.

11:00 am – 6:00 pm – Quarter Midget Racing – Cumming Fairgrounds -The North Georgia Quarter Midget Association welcomes you and your family to come out and watch the races. Admission is free; we have concessions and plenty of excitement for the whole family. Quarter Midget Racing is a family oriented sport for children ages 5 to 16. Children race in Quarter Midget cars that are a scaled-down (approximately 1/4 scale) version of an actual midget-racecar on oval tracks that are approximately 1/20th of a mile.
