Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for January 4 – January 6, 2013.

As we prepare to get the kids back to school next week, here are a few events to end the winter break. The Forsyth County Public Library has posted its January calendar of events as well. Some activities require registration, so please check their website.

Saturday, January 5

8:00 am – 11:00 am – Cocoa Loco 5K – Central Park, 2300 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming, GA . Cocoa Loco 5K is a family-oriented, fun-filled run to benefit Claire Combs, former teacher of special needs students at North Forsyth High. Claire was diagnosed with State 3 colon cancer in October and faces high medical expenses with little insurance. Hot cocoa will flow! Participants get a long sleeved race t-shirt and goodie bag! $25 registration. Want to help but not run? $25 let’s you put promotional items in the goodie bags! 9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop. Build a diamond birdhouse!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Avenue Forsyth. Let it Snow story time! It’s cold outside! Join us for a Storytime all about snow. Great for all ages!

American Girl- Meet the Girl of the Year and celebrate with lots of fun events at American Girl. Here is a link to all of the weekend events.

American Girl Store, North Point Mall
Celebrate the arrival of the newest Girl of the Year! She’s a spirited girl who uses her imagination to create art and inspire change. At this special event, your girl can be among the first to learn about this new character’s world. Join in on the fun with demonstrations, crafts and free giveaways.
SNOW MOUNTAIN
Snow mountain is open at Stone Mountain through February 18, 2013! What a fun way to celebrate winter with your family. Snow Mountain is Atlanta’s official winter wonderland, just minutes from downtown. Here you’ll find a snow-packed mountainside and action-packed excitement. Have a ball on five football fields of frosty joy, including 20 lanes of tubing. Zoom down the 400-foot hill all together in our family-sized tubes, or go it alone as a single rider. From snowman building to snowball shooting, tubing to togetherness, the moments will be frozen in time.
NORTH GEORGIA
If you are shopping at the North Georgia Premium Outlets, stop at the information desk to get a coupon book. They are on social media and post lots of special offers. Also, one of our favorite toy stores, i Shop Lollipop, is located next to it and has a wonderful jumpy room. You can also play in the toy store! They have lots of toys that are hard to find elsewhere. Open Play Schedule for i Shop Lollipop Toys & Jumping Safari. The cost to jump is $5.00 for ages 2 – 5 and $8.00 for ages 6 and up. You need socks and you get a free bottled water! Unlimited jump time.
