Alpaca Shearing Days on April 6 and April 7 at Thunder River Alpaca Company

suri alpacasThunder River Alpaca Company’s 3rd Annual Alpaca Shearing Day in Cumming, GA is on April 6 and April 7, 2013 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. It is free and children are welcome. This is a great event for families.

Visit a farm, see their dogs, visit and touch and feed the alpacas and see them being shorn. You can even get a piece of fleece from the alpaca to take home.

“Join the fun at our annual Shearing Festival. We will talk about the different grades of fleece, what each grade is used to make, the characteristics of the elite suri alpaca fiber, the process of fiber processing along with the what makes one fleece better than another.”

There will be lots of fiber-related activities including weaving, spinning, knitting and crocheting demonstrations. The Farm Store, filled with lots of alpaca yarns and products, will be open.

If you see a fleece that you would like to have, make us an offer! Last year, we sold a blanket from one of our top crias before she was shorn!

The farm is open for our Annual Shearing Festival each April and in September for National Alpaca Farm Days but visitors are always welcome to our alpaca farm. Please call ahead for details and information.

Our farm is located at 7830 Thunder River Way, Cumming, Georgia 30028, where we raise over 30 alpacas with another six being born this year. You are always welcome to stop by and learn more about alpacas, see and touch them and visit our Farm Store filled with yarn made from our alpaca’s fleece and a large selection of luxurious alpaca products.
