Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for May 3 – May 5, 2013

petting zooA cool, rainy weekend is in store for us in Forsyth County, GA. I am happy that Lake Lanier is full again! There are lots of fun things to do for families this weekend. Due to bad weather this weekend, please check with event organizers in case of cancellations. If you hear of anything going on around town, please comment and share!

The Cumming Aquatic Center opening is delayed until Saturday, May 11 (weather permitting)

Saturday, May 4

8:00 am – 2:00 pm – Green Bean Exchange Parking Lot Sale – It’s that time again! The Cumming shop is having our WORLD FAMOUS PARKING LOT SALE Saturday, May 4. Begins 8am & goes on until we run out of stuff (about 3:00-ish). Interested in renting a spot? Only $20! Call us at 678-341-8080.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot kids workshop – Build an herb planter and use stickers featuring “EPIC” and Team ENERGY STAR! FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 – 12 offered the 1st Saturday of every month at all The Home Depot stores between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. • Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. • All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Keep Forsyth Beautiful Electronics Recycling Event – Cumming Fairgrounds – Accepted items for recycling include laptops, stereos, CD players, cell phones, microwaves, cameras and more. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5 while an additional $10 fee will apply for each television. Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club – Thanks for helping me grow clay pot. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:30am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

10:00 am – 11:30 am - Tea & Brunch for Moms and Such – Brannon-Heard House – 111 Pilgrim Road, Cumming, GA 30040. Join us for a morning of big hats, gloves, and spring’s finest attire to honor moms and other special women in our lives. There will be two raffled custom playhouses built by Pulte Homes, photography sessions, giveaways, recognition of mothers, a trunk show & a special surprise performance. Tea and yummy food provided. 11:00 am Barnes & Noble story time – Madeline is coming for a visit. Join us for a special Storytime. Great for all ages!

11:00 am – 2:00 pm – Cornerstone School Spring Festival – Musical performances by Cornerstone students. Hay rides, face painting, mini massages, bounce house, food and a very special pie throwing contest! (Check with school due to weather)

ALPHARETTA, GA

CYT Atlanta proudly announces our Spring 2013 production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, Jr”!! This colorful, fun musical for all ages will show at The Milton Center Theater (86 School Street, Alpharetta, GA  30009) on Thursday, May 2 through Sunday, May 5. Show times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $12-15 and can be purchased at cytatlanta.com
