Hillcrest Orchards Fall 2013 Apple Picking Season

Visit Hillcrest Orchards farm market this Labor Day weekend for fresh picked apples including Honey Crisp, Ginger Gold, Gala, Jonagold and Fuji. The bakers are cooking up hot apple pies, cider doughnuts and apple fritters hot out of the fryer. Hop on the wagon for a relaxing ride through the orchard. Visit the petting farm with a new crop of baby farm animals waiting to be hugged and petted.

Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee on September 7, 2013 and it runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage.

Visit the playground, fly on a zip line and ride our giant slide down the mountain. There is a new kids play area for extra fun. You can even get your picture made on one of their live steers. Jump for Joy in the Giant Jumping Pillow! Get Lost in the New Corny Kids’ Maze!

Visit the bakery and ice cream parlor for homemade fried apple pies, apple cider doughnuts, apple fritters, homemade ice cream and fudge. Wash it all down with some fresh cold apple cider. They will have the grill fired up outside in the festival area for hamburgers, hotdogs and barbecue along with Billy Bob’s famous boiled peanuts, turkey legs and roasted corn.

Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Admission is $7.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit.

If you can’t make it out to the apple orchards but want to enjoy fresh North Georgia apples, check out City Produce in Cumming, GA on the corner across from Dairy Queen. They are already bringing in apples from Ellijay!

  1. I checked the Hillcrest website and they actually don’t open until September, which is Sunday!! I would hate for someone to drive all the way up there thinking it is open.

    • Thanks for letting me know! I will double check. I received an email from them that it opened this weekend.

    • I just called and they are open today. The market, playground, petting zoo. You pick is not open until the Jubilee.
