kids consignment sale in cumming, gaI have just returned from a week at Disney World, so apologies for getting this out late this week. Here are some fun things going on in and around Forsyth County, GA.
Saturday, September 7

6:30 am – 12:00 pm - Cumming Farmers Market - Wednesdays and Saturdays, Cumming Fairgrounds parking lot, 235 Castleberry Road, Cumming, GA. Support local farmers and check out the tasty produce, fragrant flowers and more!

10:00 am – 8:00 pm – Kids Consignment Sale - Lakewood 400 - Rhea Lana’s of Cumming is a semi- Annual Children’s Consignment event. You will find Clothing, shoes, toys, books, videos, games, baby gear, accessories, outdoor play equipment, maternity and much more at a fraction of retail!

11:00 am - Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – A Camp Story Time - We are going on an imagination adventure camping trip. Join us as we read stories about camping fun. We will have a special treat and fun activities you don’t want to miss.
7:00 pm - Bingo - VFW Post 9143, 1045 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA - Looking for a little Family Fun?*  Come join us each Tuesday and Saturday for Bingo.  New Games. Bigger grand prize. Concessions are available. Both sessions are NON SMOKING family fun. *Please note: Children must be 6 years or older.
Sunday, September 8
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm - Save the Horses is going Wild! - Save The Horses Rescue Center 1768 Newt Green Rd, Cumming, Georgia 30028. Meet 2013 Mustang Magic Champion, Betsy Fajen Moles of Natural Horse Solutions, and five of her awesome Mustangs! Betsy will demonstrate what she’s accomplished, using her natural horsemanship techniques, with Mustangs that have only recently been removed from the wild. Bring the kids and visit with the large variety of rescued animals! Learn about America’s Living Legends, Mustangs, descended from mostly Spanish heritage, who still roam wild and free on American public lands.

Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA opens Labor Day weekend! Fall fun at the farm starts this weekend. Enjoy their 13th annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:

Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee on September 7, 2013 and it runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage.

Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Admission is $7.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. Apple varieties: Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Pinata, Ambrosia, Gala & Honey Crisp with more coming in. Pig races are at 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm each day of the festival.

APPLE ORCHARDS / CORN MAZES / FARMS IN NORTH GEORGIA

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit.

If you can’t make it out to the apple orchards but want to enjoy fresh North Georgia apples, check out City Produce in Cumming, GA on the corner across from Dairy Queen. They are already bringing in apples from Ellijay!
