Friday, September 13
8:30 am – 1:00 pm – Kids Consignment Sale – CFUMC – Cumming First United Methodist Church – Cumming First United Methodist Church in Cumming, Georgia hosts a huge Kid’s Consignment Sale twice a year.  This ministry raises funds for Women and Children’s outreach programs both locally and globally. CFUMC is located at 770 Canton Highway in Cumming, GA, 30040.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Farmers Market at Vickery Village – There is a new farmers market in Cumming, GA! Come stock up for the weekend on farm fresh produce, local meats, poultry, and eggs as well as local artisan products such as bread, cheese, jellies, probiotic drinks, soaps and more. Also, order fresh wild caught seafood for delivery at the market from Tom’s Awesome Seafood.

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Dixie Dock Dogs Event – Rucker Falling for Dock Dogs – If you haven’t been to see the dogs dock diving, it is a treat for the whole family. September 13th, 14th & 15th, Friday 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Brookwood Farmers Market – Caney Creek Preserve. Family Friendly Activities, Entertainment, and over 30 Vendors!!! Check their Facebook page for updates. New this year – fun activities for kids!

5:00 – 8:30 pm – The Foster House – Seafood Buffet and Live Bluegrass music!  We will begin having a Seafood buffet and live music every Friday night starting in September.

Saturday, September 14

6:30 am – 12:00 pm – Cumming Farmers Market – Wednesdays and Saturdays, Cumming Fairgrounds parking lot, 235 Castleberry Road, Cumming, GA. Support local farmers and check out the tasty produce, fragrant flowers and more!

9:00 am – 4:00 pm – Grand Opening/Community Event for the Cumming Regional Readiness Center. There will be a parachute experience, air soft firing range, rock climbing wall, night vision goggle experience, sending messages from communications vehicles, a pottery station, air brush face painting, bouncy house, food and lots more. There will also be numerous room dedications as well as the Mayor speaking at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony. 100 Aquatic Circle, Cumming, GA 30040, off of Pilgrim Mill Road.

APPLE ORCHARDS / CORN MAZES / FARMS IN NORTH GEORGIA

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit.

Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee on September 7, 2013 and it runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage.

Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Admission is $7.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. Apple varieties: Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Pinata, Ambrosia, Gala & Honey Crisp with more coming in. Pig races are at 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm each day of the festival.

Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA opens Labor Day weekend! Fall fun at the farm starts this weekend. Enjoy their 13th annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:

Sunday 10am-6pm

If you can’t make it out to the apple orchards but want to enjoy fresh North Georgia apples, check out City Produce in Cumming, GA on the corner across from Dairy Queen. They are already bringing in apples from Ellijay!
