Friday, September 20
9:00 am – 5:00 pm Lakewood 400 Antiques Market – Happy 10th Anniversary! Celebrate their decade of flea market goodness and see what treasures you can find at the market. All weekend. Hours: Friday ~ 9 – 5, Saturday ~ 9 – 6, Sunday ~ 10-5. Admission: $3 Friday – Sunday, Ticket is good all weekend, Children under 12 Free.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Farmers Market at Vickery Village – There is a new farmers market in Cumming, GA! Come stock up for the weekend on farm fresh produce, local meats, poultry, and eggs as well as local artisan products such as bread, cheese, jellies, probiotic drinks, soaps and more. Also, order fresh wild caught seafood for delivery at the market from Tom’s Awesome Seafood.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Brookwood Farmers Market – Caney Creek Preserve. Family Friendly Activities, Entertainment, and over 30 Vendors!!! Check their Facebook page for updates. New this year – fun activities for kids!

5:00 – 8:30 pm – The Foster House – Seafood Buffet and Live Bluegrass music!  We will begin having a Seafood buffet and live music every Friday night starting in September.

Saturday, September 21
Donut Connection is Celebrating 8 great years! Come by on Saturday, September 21, 2013 for a free donut. Located at 3225 Keith Bridge Road in Cumming.

11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Cruise in for a CurePizzeria Azzurri – Want to check out the coolest cars around, enjoy some brick oven pizza AND make a difference in the fight against cancer? Come out to Stick it 2 Cancer’s Cruise In for a Cure event! This event is open to ALL types of cars from street cars to sports cars to old antiques to jacked up jeeps. So if you’re a car buff, you won’t want to miss this! Registration is only $25. Fan favorite prizes will be awarded. Preregister at www.jtechnetworks.com/cruisein This family-friendly event has a play area just for kids with a bounce house, face painting and a Kona Ice truck serving up tropical shaved ice! 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Forsyth County Parks and Recreation will host the eleventh annual Play at the Park Family Fun Festival Sunday, September 22, from noon to 5 p.m. at Fowler Park. There will be lots of fun activities like inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, community expo, shopping vendors, eats and treats and family entertainment.

Community Wide Garage Sale! Windermere Community has 14 neighborhoods participating in this community-wide garage sale on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Many homes will be participating. We are located off Buford Rd. Hwy 20 (east of 400N). From 400 northbound, exit #14 ,take right, travel approx 2 miles (to Trammel Rd) or 4 miles (to Windermere Pkwy) and take right. Maps will be located at the Windermere Lodge Clubhouse at address above. Each participating neighborhood and home will have a yellow sign in front. Come rain or shine.

APPLE ORCHARDS / CORN MAZES / FARMS IN NORTH GEORGIA

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm, Warbington Farms and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit – check their websites for opening dates.

Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee on September 7, 2013 and it runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage.

Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Admission is $7.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. Apple varieties: Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Pinata, Ambrosia, Gala & Honey Crisp with more coming in. Pig races are at 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm each day of the festival.

Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA opens Labor Day weekend! Fall fun at the farm starts this weekend. Enjoy their 13th annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:

Sunday 10am-6pm

If you can’t make it out to the apple orchards but want to enjoy fresh North Georgia apples, check out City Produce in Cumming, GA on the corner across from Dairy Queen. They are already bringing in apples from Ellijay! Also The Cumming Harvest is a great way to eat real, local food and support local farmers.
