Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for September 27 – September 29, 2013

Friday, September 27

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Farmers Market at Vickery Village – There is a new farmers market in Cumming, GA! Come stock up for the weekend on farm fresh produce, local meats, poultry, and eggs as well as local artisan products such as bread, cheese, jellies, probiotic drinks, soaps and more. Also, order fresh wild caught seafood for delivery at the market from Tom’s Awesome Seafood.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Brookwood Farmers Market – Caney Creek Preserve. Family Friendly Activities, Entertainment, and over 30 Vendors!!! Check their Facebook page for updates. New this year – fun activities for kids!

5:00 – 8:30 pm – The Foster House – Seafood Buffet and Live Bluegrass music!  We will begin having a Seafood buffet and live music every Friday night starting in September.

Saturday, September 28

6:30 am – 12:00 pm – Cumming Farmers Market – Wednesdays and Saturdays, Cumming Fairgrounds parking lot, 235 Castleberry Road, Cumming, GA. Support local farmers and check out the tasty produce, fragrant flowers and more!

8:00 am – 1:00 pm – Lake Lanier Shore Sweep – 25th Annual Lake Lanier Shore Sweep is September 28th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering visit,, or call 770.503.7757 for more information. Help clean up Lake Lanier. We go to the Bald Ridge Marina location and you get an assignment, gloves and trash bags. Clean up your area, then return and get a t-shirt and lunch! 

8:00am – 12:00pm – 400 Wheels Welcomes Car & Motorcycle Enthusiasts to show off your ride, meet up new friends and enjoy free coffee Sponsored by Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee Classic, Exotic, Muscle, Custom, Hot Rods, Cars and Bikes! 10:00 am – 11:30 am – Michaels Kids Club – Silly Monsters – Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00 – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Too Much Glue Storytime – Have you ever played with too much glue? Come join us on this fun adventure and find out what happens! Great for all ages!
7:00 pm – Bingo – VFW Post 9143, 1045 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA – Looking for a little Family Fun?*  Come join us each Tuesday and Saturday for Bingo.  New Games. Bigger grand prize. Concessions are available. Both sessions are NON SMOKING family fun. *Please note: Children must be 6 years or older.

Pumpkin Palooza at Warbington Farms starts Saturday September 28th. Hope everyone can join us for a hayride, fun in the Farm park, visit the petting zoo, pick the pumpkin for the front porch. We will also have vendors every weekend from now until the 27th of October. Such as Origami Owl, Paparazzi jewelry, Hand made children’s items, wreaths by “Hang this wreath” Monogram shirts, much more. Hope to see you there! Hours are 11-6 on Saturdays, 1-6 on Sundays.

Join Thunder River Alpaca Farm for Alpaca Farm Days on Saturday September 28th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday September 29th from 1:00 pm – 4:0 pm. Activities include tours of the farm, information on how alpaca fleece is made into yarn, knitting demonstrations and refreshments. All free to the public!


It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family FarmWarbington Farms and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit – check their websites for opening dates.

Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee on September 7, 2013 and it runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA opens Labor Day weekend! Fall fun at the farm starts this weekend. Enjoy their 13th annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:

Sunday 10am-6pm

If you can’t make it out to the apple orchards but want to enjoy fresh North Georgia apples, check out City Produce in Cumming, GA on the corner across from Dairy Queen. They are already bringing in apples from Ellijay!

Also The Cumming Harvest is a great way to eat real, local food and support local farmers.
