Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for October 18 – October 20, 2013

IMG_2542Haunted houses, antiques, a Greek festival, pumpkins and more are in store this weekend. Here’s a round up of fun things to do in and around Forsyth County this weekend.

Friday, October 18

9:00 am – 5:00 pm Lakewood 400 Antiques Market – Happy 10th Anniversary! Celebrate their decade of flea market goodness and see what treasures you can find at the market. All weekend. Hours: Friday ~ 9 – 5, Saturday ~ 9 – 6, Sunday ~ 10-5. Admission: $3 Friday – Sunday, Ticket is good all weekend, Children under 12 Free.

10:00 am – 1:00 pm – Kids Camp at Uniquely Inspired Paint Pottery & More Studio. School is out! Come and enjoy making halloween related crafts and a snack. Bring your Lunch. $35+tax/child ($32+tax for second child) To make reservations, call 678-947-5499. 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Cumming Greek Festival – Music, dance, and great food make the Cumming Greek Festival THE destination in North Georgia during the third week of October this year. 3074 Bethelview Rd. Cumming, GA 30040. Adults $1.00, kids 12 and under are free.

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Hayes Haunt, 7435 Cavaletti Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. Friday and Saturday nights, including Oct. 18, 19, 25, 26 and 31, and an encore Nov. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person (proceeds go to The Place of Forsyth.) For sensitive guests, “a protective amulet, magical talisman if you will, may be purchased and worn to ward off the monsters for a ’Hayes Haunt Light’ experience,” according to hayeshaunt.com. Allow 15 to 20 minutes to walk through the haunt.

Saturday, October 19

10:00 am – 11:30 am – Michaels Kids Club – Duck tape Halloween mask. Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30pm. Be a crafty super hero for Halloween. Join us on Saturday, October 19th, from 10-11:30am, for our Duck Tape® Halloween Mask Event. Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. 10:00 am – 9:30 pm – Fall Festival at The Warehouse Ministry. Hay Rides, Face Painting, Live Music, Carnival Games, Baked Goods, Yard Sale, Petting Zoo and much more! Proceeds benefit the Warehouse Ministry.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Witches and Weiners story time. Join us as we read two fun Halloween stories, Room on the Broom and The Hallo-Weiner! Great for all ages!

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Castleberry Road Baptist Church Fall Festival – Please mark your calendars for our First Fall Festival we are hosting for our community.  We will have an evening of family fun and excitement as we bring in multiple bounce houses, trunk or treat, games, food, and fun for the entire family.  Please make sure to join us on Sunday evening October 20th. Castleberry Road Baptist Church is located at: 7225 Castleberry Road Cumming, GA 30040 (770) 889-2422.

The Cumming Greek Festival – This year’s Cumming Greek festival is a 3-day event! Come and dance and yell OPA with us on their 15 acre property off Bethelview Road in Cumming GA. The Cumming Greek festival is Forsyth county’s largest ethnic event. It offers the community a unique opportunity to experience the rich Greek culture. The continuous live Greek music and traditional bouzouki will fill you while you enjoy energetic live traditional Greek dance performances.

Pumpkin Palooza at Warbington Farms! Go for a hayride, have fun in the Farm park, visit the petting zoo, pick the pumpkin for the front porch. We will also have vendors every weekend from now until the 27th of October. Such as Origami Owl, Paparazzi jewelry, Hand made children’s items, wreaths by “Hang this wreath” Monogram shirts, much more. Hope to see you there! Hours are 11-6 on Saturdays, 1-6 on Sundays. Coupon coming soon to their website, so be watching!

Kinsey Family Farm and the pumpkin patch at Cumming First United Methodist Church is open for pumpkin picking season!

APPLE ORCHARDS / CORN MAZES / FARMS IN NORTH GEORGIA

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family FarmWarbington Farms and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit – check their websites for opening dates.

Hillcrest Orchards apple pickin’ jubilee runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA. Enjoy their 13th annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:
