Thursday, October 24

7:00 pm – Macbeth at Forsyth Central High School. Acclaimed as William Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy, the action-packed show is full of intricate sword combat, and lots of tricks and special effects.  Macbeth runs Thursday October 24th and Thursday, October 31 at 7 p.m., and Friday October 25th at 6:30 p.m. Advanced tickets are now on sale for $10/$5 for students and can be purchased online or at the door the night of each performance.  Performances are at the Central High School Performing Arts Center, 520 Tribble Gap Road, Cumming, GA  30040. Recommended for older audiences.

Friday, October 25

10:30 am – Grand opening of Pollo Tropical at 1510 Marketplace Blvd in Cumming, GA!  The Cumming community will celebrate the newest Pollo Tropical opening with a 12-Hour Beach Party – turning thoughts of falling leaves into frolicking palm fronds, island music, beach games, and of course delicious food from the tropics!  One lucky Grand Opening Beach Party attendee will even win Free Pollo Tropical for a Year!* Participants are being urged to arrive as early as 8:00 a.m. to be among the first 100 guests in line for the restaurant’s 10:30 a.m. opening.  Participants must be present to win, and the drawing and winner announcement take place at 11:00 a.m. See website for contest details.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Farmers Market at Vickery Village – Dress up your child, dog or yourself this Friday for trick or treating. Raffle tickets will be given away for gift certificates and gifts from vendors. Collect tickets at each vendor you visit and be entered to win in a special drawing. Drawing at 3PM. Prize can be picked up at OVR Coffee Cafe if not present. Of course there will be treats for kids at the vendors’ booths.

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Hayes Haunt, 7435 Cavaletti Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. Friday and Saturday nights, including Oct. 18, 19, 25, 26 and 31, and an encore Nov. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person (proceeds go to The Place of Forsyth.) For sensitive guests, “a protective amulet may be purchased and worn to ward off the monsters for a ’Hayes Haunt Light’ experience,” according to hayeshaunt.com. Allow 15 to 20 minutes to walk through the haunt.

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm – 4th annual haunted forest – The Calhoun’s 7830 Rose Court Cumming GA 30040, Walnut Grove Subdivision! Friday October 25th and October 26th from 7pm to 10pm. Admission is free but we will be accepting donations for a charity called Opportunity Camp. www.opportunitycamp.org. We will have small heaters throughout the haunt and will be selling hot chocolate to keep you warm. 11:00 am – Barnes & Noble story time. Join us for a special Halloween Storytime featuring Go Away, Big Green Monster! There will be fun activities, costume parades and treats.

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Creekside Methodist Church Trunk or Treat. 4:00-5:30: Trunk or Treating – 5:30-6:00: Devotion and Awards.

5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – “The Great Pumpkin – Carving A Night of Fun” at Cumming First United Methodist Church. The event, which costs $10 per family, will include a hot dog supper, s’mores and popcorn. There also will be a “punkin chunkin” contest, jack-o-lantern carving, hayrides and a viewing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on an inflatable, outdoor screen. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to the family-friendly Trunk or Treat, which will feature a haunted maze, bean bag toss, face painting, clowns and other fun activities and games. 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm – Trunk or Treat at Freedom Tabernacle – Our seventh annual “trunk-or-treat” event is coming up on Sunday, October 27, 2013, from 6:00 until 7:30pm, and is free to the community and is tons of fun! We will have music, hot dogs and marshmallow roasting, activities for the kids, hayrides and fun for the entire family! No scary costumes. The event will be held in the upper parking lot of the church if weather permits or in the lower parking lot should it rain. Located at 2160 Freedom Parkway, Cumming, Georgia 30041.

Pumpkin Palooza at Warbington Farms! Go for a hayride, have fun in the Farm park, visit the petting zoo, pick the pumpkin for the front porch. We will also have vendors every weekend from now until the 27th of October. Such as Origami Owl, Paparazzi jewelry, Hand made children’s items, wreaths by “Hang this wreath” Monogram shirts, much more. Hope to see you there! Kinsey Family Farm and the pumpkin patch at Cumming First United Methodist Church is open for pumpkin picking season!

APPLE ORCHARDS / CORN MAZES / FARMS IN NORTH GEORGIA

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family FarmWarbington Farms and Kinsey Family Farm are also a fun-filled place to visit – check their websites for opening dates.

Hillcrest Orchards apple pickin’ jubilee runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA. Enjoy their 13th annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:
