Start the weekend off on Friday at the Celebration of Lights at Northside Hospital – Forsyth with live entertainment from local schools and groups, children activities, photos with Santa and the lighting of the giant Christmas tree atop the hospital.

Saturday participate in a short run/walk in the Jingle Jog 5K that takes you down Mary Alice Park Road and back to Market Place Boulevard. Then kick back and enjoy the season with your community, family and friends to cheer on the festive floats in the Cumming Christmas Parade.

We are fortunate to have two Christmas tree farms in Forsyth County, GA where you can pick your own tree and cut it down, or select a tree with a rootball to plant after Christmas! Also both farms provide Trees for Troops so if you are feeling generous, donate towards giving a tree for the troops!

You can cut your own tree down, choose a live tree with a root ball, or pick one of our free standing pre-cut trees out of our barns. We invite you to come roast marshmallows, drink hot chocolate, and listen to holiday music with us at the barn. Once you have warmed your insides sufficiently you can take a wagon ride out to the fields to begin your quest for the perfect Christmas tree.

The 2013 Christmas season will be in operation from Saturday, November 23rd (the weekend before Thanksgiving) until Saturday, December 21st. Due to our desire to celebrate the holidays with our own families we will not be open on Thanksgiving day or Christmas Eve.

I was dropping off my daughters at Chattahoochee Elementary today and saw a Little Mermaid standing outside waving and greeting the children as they arrived to school. I soon learned that North Forsyth High School Drama department will be showing The Little Mermaid Jr this week! Tickets for the show are $7 and $10 reserved. Get a free hair cut at Great Clips! This year, Great Clips is holding a “Thank a Veteran Free Haircut Card” promotion that gives our customers a way to show appreciation for the veterans in their lives.  While not all of us have served in the military ourselves, most of us know at least one veteran we would like to thank on that day.

How it works:
• On Nov. 11 only, customers who stop in for a service at any Great Clips salon in the United States get a free haircut card to give to a veteran
• The free haircut cards are redeemable by members of the military from Nov. 11 to Dec. 31, 2013

The City of Cumming’s Veterans Day Ceremony is Monday, November 11 at 11:00 am at the Veterans War Memorial located at 301 Veterans Memorial Blvd in Cumming, GA. The event is free to the public.

10:00 am – 6:00 pm – Cumming Steam, Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Exposition at the Cumming Fairgrounds. The Cumming Steam, Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Exposition has steadily grown since it began in 2001. Come and join us for a weekend of fun and step back in time. We have working exhibits such as a cotton gin, saw mill, shingle mill, baker fan and many others. The Cumming Fairgrounds is one of the finest show grounds in the south. Come take a walk back in time. Vendors and exhibitors get in free and we have campsites available with full hook ups. Admission: 13 and up $5.00, kids 12 and under are free.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Farmers Market at Vickery Village – The last full market of the season! 11:30 am – 3:00 pm – The NFHS Raider Band hosts its 6th Annual “Taste of Christmas” on November 9th at North Forsyth High School from 11:30 – 3:00.  The event will feature restaurant tastings, crafters/vendors, a silent auction, musical performances by NFHS band students, and pictures with Santa Claus.  Tickets for the event are $10 each and can be purchased prior to the event from any NFHS band student as well as at the door on the day of the event.  Your ticket includes ten tastes from the participating restaurants.  All proceeds benefit the NFHS band program.
