bndfThe weekend is here and there are lots of fun things to do in Forsyth County, GA! School is out next week so enjoy the break with your family and check out what’s going on in the neighborhood.

Friday, November 22

Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Discovery Friday – Discover Member exclusives, incredible discounts and deals on Friday, November 22. Save on books, NOOK, toys, games, music, movies and more. Enjoy readings, performances and fun activities. A story time at 10:00 am – If You Give A Mouse a Cookie, 2:00 pm story time The Day the Crayons Quit. Author Janice Hardy will be signing from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. Join us at 7:00 pm for a special reading of The Elf on the Shelf by Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell. Attention Harry Potter fans! Join us for a trivia contest from 6pm-7pm. Join Santa for “Elf on the Shelf” and illustrator Elizabeth Dulemba for “12 Days of Christmas in Georgia” from 7pm-8pm. Prizes, cookies and coloring contest are included in this very special event! Meet and greet local children’s and adult authors beginning at 6pm.

Saturday, November 23

9:00 am – 6:00 pm – Opening Day – Kinsey Family Farm is now open for the holiday season! Pick out a tree, roast marshmallows and start a new tradition for your family.

10:00 am – Pike Nurseries – Need gift ideas? Check out the FREE hostess & teacher gift basket class. Your local garden experts have even more to offer you this season like gourmet goodies and decorations for the home, and now you can put it all into a beautiful gift basket. Join us for a free class to get ideas for creating personalized hostess and teacher’s gifts.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club. Kids, create a crafty handmade stocking for Christmas. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2.00 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble story time – The Elf on the Shelf A Christmas Activity Storybook. They’re back — just in time for another holiday season! Join the Elves as they read The Elf on the Shelf. We will have fun activities and a snack!

2:30 pm – Turkey Tales story time at Post Road Library – A Thanksgiving story time. Celebrate Thanksgiving with special stories, songs and a puppet show. No registration is required.

Sunday, November 23

2:00 pm – Movie Matinee at Hampton Park Library – A Princeton admissions officer takes a professional risk after she meets a college-bound alternative school kid who just might be the son she gave up years ago in a secret adoption. Register online for this free movie.

White Christmas is playing at the Cumming Playhouse. Seats are limited – check online or call for availability.

23 Forsyth County, GA companies are participating in a canned food drive for Feed the Hungry Forsyth. Volunteers and donations also needed.
