March is coming in like a lion with all of this crazy changing weather! However, the weekend looks like it will be warm and beautiful! Here are some ideas of fun things to do in and around Forsyth County, GA.

Friday, March 7

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library Preschool Pals story time for ages 3 – 5. These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader.

Saturday, March 8

7:00 am registration, 8:00 am 5k, 9:15 am fun run – Destination Training‘s Run for the Cure 5k and Fun Run at South Forsyth High School – this 5k will raise funds for diabetes.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels KIDS CLUB®. Jigsaw puzzle fun. Kids, create a crafty personalized puzzle of your very own. Join us on Saturday, March 8th, for our Crafty Custom Puzzle Event. Ages 3 and up are welcome to this event. See a store associate for details today.

10:00 am – Pike Nursery – Free lawn care class. To help homeowners tend their lawns like a pro, Pike Nurseries will host an informative and FREE Spring Lawn Care Customer Class. The seminar will include step-by-step procedures for applying a crabgrass preventer and for sodding and reseeding lawns, as well as advice on what type of grass grows best in the South. In this free seminar, the participants will learn which of these options best suits their landscape, along with insider tips and tricks that will help them start and maintain the perfect lawn!

10:00 am – Lowe’s Build and Grow – Build a birdhouse. Spring is right around the corner! Bring your kids to Lowe’s this weekend and they can build this awesome Birdhouse!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Storytime featuring My Name Is Not Isabella by Jennifer Fosberry.

11:00 am – Sweet Monkey Frozen Yogurt & Cupcakes – Cumming has its grand opening at 11:00 am at The Collection at Forsyth! Frozen yogurt and cupcakes, yum!

11:15 am – 1:15 pm – Post Road Library Saturday Family Story Time. Snow! Start your weekend off right at the Post Road library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is for children aged 4-8 but bring the whole family!

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Saturday Story Time at Cumming Library. This 30 minute storytime includes books, music, and activities. It is designed for ages 4 – 8, but the whole family is welcome to attend.

12:00 pm – American Girls Truly Talented You Workshop at Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth. Girls ages 8 to 12, join us for a special American Girl Event. Truly Talented You features fun activities, puzzles and crafts inspired by the newest Girl of the Year.

2:00 PM – Cumming Library – Teen CSI Mystery and Party – Grades 6 and up. Registration required.

Sunday, March 9

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – 80′s Movie Matinee at Hampton Park Library. Due to licensing restrictions, we can’t advertise the titles of our movies online. However, see if you can guess this week’s film by the following description: An unusual Christmas present called a “mogwai” is given to Billy Peltzer by his dad with three basic rules for caring for the pet: never get him wet, keep him out of bright light, and never feed him after midnight. When Billy inadvertently breaks one of the rules, the consequences multiply at an alarming rate that builds to an explosively suspenseful climax.

Pi Day is March 14 and Mia’s Pizza & East has a math initiative for the kids to do math for a free slice of cheese pizza. Got to love that! Find the math activities here (just scroll down to the Math initiative section of the page). http://miaspizzaandeats.com/pi-day.html. Kids who complete one of these activities and who bring it to the restaurant between March 1 to March 14 will receive a free slice of pizza.  Kids in grades Pre-K to 8 are eligible to play and must choose an age appropriate activity to complete.  Only one per child.  Free slices are dine-in only and can be picked up between 11am to 6pm only, Monday through Sunday.  Not valid with other coupons, promotional certificates, or discounts.
