Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for April 11 – April 13, 2014

Warbington Farms in Cumming, GAA beautiful weekend is in store for Forsyth County, GA! I hope you plan on spending lots of it outside! Here’s a roundup of fun things for families to do.

Friday, April 11

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Cumming Library Storybook Parade! We all love a parade! Come dressed as your favorite storybook character. We will read a story, march in a parade around the library, and enjoy a yummy treat. Ages 18 months to 5 years. No registration required.

11:15 – 11:45 am – Preschool Pals at the Hampton Park Library. Share the fun of reading with your children ages 3-5 years! We’ll explore stories and activities to encourage children along a lifelong path of reading and learning. Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader. Preschool Pals programs are for children ages 3-5 and their parents or caregivers. Advance registration is not required for this program.

6:00 pm – Camp Out with the Horses – Bring your tent, family and friends to enjoy a peaceful night in the pasture. Enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks & desserts and campfire singalong. Cost: $40.00 per tent.  Price includes all food & drinks. Rain date: April 25th. All proceeds to benefit Save the Horses (Horse Rescue Relief & Retirement Fund, Inc. a 501(c)3 organization.) Save The Horses – 1768 Newt Green Road, Cumming, GA.

Saturday, April 12

8:00 am OR 10:00 am – Pike Nurseries Class – Planning a garden party or wedding this year? Let our experts give you ideas to take your event to the next level. During this free class, we will offer tips for tabletop décor, centerpieces, and living party favors.

9:30 am – 11:30 am The Forsyth County Lions Club Presents Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Fowler Park, 4110 Carolene Way, Cumming, GA. Adult Tickets: $6.00 in advance ∙ $7.00 onsite. Child (Under 12) Tickets: $3.00 in advance. $4.00 onsite. Pancake Breakfast With The Trimmings. Appearance by The Easter Bunny. Face Painting, Balloon Animal Making, Art Activities, Storytelling. Performance by “Three Score and More” Barbershop Quartet.

10:00 am – 2014 Farm EGGstravaganza at Warbington Farms. Easter Egg Hunts at 11:00 AM & 1:00 PM, Farm opens at 10:00 AM. Join us for an “EGGstravagant” day of the farm. Your admission ticket includes the egg hunt, FREE photo with live bunnies (photographer will be on site to take a professional picture with kids and bunnies), unlimited play in the fun park area, the “hey” ride, petting zoo and NEW play areas! Make sure you BYO basket. Prize eggs will include coupons to farm, free slushies, and MUCH more! Warbington Farms, 5555 Crow Road, Cumming, GA. Admission is $10 kids and $5 adults.

10:00 am – Lowe’s Build & Grow Workshop – Build a Recycling Truck! In 2012, Lowe’s stores and distribution centers recycled more than 400,000 tons of cardboard and pallets, the equivalent weight of 4 aircraft carriers! Bring your child to Lowe’s and they can get excited about recycling with this awesome Recycling Truck!

10:30 am – 12:00 pm – FREE Easter Egg Scramble & Carnival Cotton Candy, Games & More at Whitlow Elementary hosted by North Lanier Baptist Church.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble story time. Corduroy the Bear has been a favorite character for many years and he will be visiting our store for Storytime. Come join us as we welcome him.

11:00 am – North Georgia Quarter Midget Kids Racing – Cumming Fairgrounds. That is what you will find at the Bill Thomas Raceway located at the Cumming Fairgrounds, home of the North Georgia Quarter Midget Racing Association (NGQMA). Saturdays between March and November, you will find boys and girls, ages 5-16, take to the track, pedal to the metal. Race on over for some wheel to wheel action!  Admisison is always free and concessions are available.

11:15 am – 12:15 pm – Post Road Library Saturday Family Story Time. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is for children aged 4-8 but bring the whole family!

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Saturday Story Time at Cumming Library. This storytime includes books, music, and activities. It is designed for ages 4 – 8, but the whole family is welcome to attend.

Sunday, April 13

2:00 pm – 3:45 pm – 80s Movie Matinee at Hampton Park Library. Due to licensing restrictions, we can’t advertise the titles of our movies online. However, see if you can guess this week’s film by the following description: John Candy stars as a ne’er-do-well bachelor who’s left in charge of his nephew and two nieces. Carefree and fun loving, he’s the last person you’d want to watch the kids, but with a little luck and a lot of love, he might just surprise everyone.

2:30 pm – 4:30 pm – Lanier United Methodist Church, along with Lanier Christian Preschool, is hosting a Community Easter Egg Hunt on the church front lawn on Sunday, April 13th at 2:30 PM (Rain date Saturday, April 19th at 11:00 AM). There will be a train ride, bouncy house, and refreshments. There is no cost. Bring a carload! The church is located at 1979 Buford Highway, Cumming, 30041. More Information: 770-887-0615.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Castleberry Road Baptist Church Spring Festival and Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday afternoon April 13th.  The Easter Egg hunt will take place at 5pm and we will have food, games, and inflateables for the children from 4pm to 7pm.  The event is free and you will have a great time! 7225 Castleberry Road, Cumming GA 30040

Forsyth County Master Gardeners Plant Sale – April 11-12, 2014 8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. Cumming Fairgrounds Annual plant sale will include many home and garden vendor booths as well as 4-6 plant related presentations each day. Covered venue, rain or shine.
