Friday, May 2
11:00 am – 3:00 pm – The Vickery Village Farmers Market is here for its second year! This farmers market is one of few in which the produce is truly farm fresh … wherein the farmer is the grower. Saturday, May 3

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop. Come learn how to build a flower planter. Just in time for Mother’s Day, this planter makes a great gift.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Recycle your old, unused electronics during the upcoming electronics recycling event hosted by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB). The event is this Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumming Fairgrounds’ parking lot 3 off Castleberry Road. Accepted items for recycling include laptops, stereos, CD players, cell phones, microwaves, cameras and more. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5 while an additional $20 fee will apply for each TV. Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. 9:00 am – Pike Nursery Blueberry Bonanza Weekend. Growing blueberries class. Join us for a free class to learn about blueberry varieties, health benefits, and how to get the most bountiful harvest. Free Blueberry Plants – The first 100 customers at each Pike Nurseries location on Saturday, May 3rd will receive a free ‘tophat’ blueberry plant*. *Limit one plant per household.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble Story Time at The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar 45th Anniversary Celebration. A reading and color-in crown activity will follow the story. This hands-on learning coloring fun is designed for ages 4 and up.
11:00 am – North Georgia Quarter Midget Kids Racing – Cumming Fairgrounds. That is what you will find at the Bill Thomas Raceway located at the Cumming Fairgrounds, home of the North Georgia Quarter Midget Racing Association (NGQMA). Saturdays between March and November, you will find boys and girls, ages 5-16, take to the track, pedal to the metal. Race on over for some wheel to wheel action!  Admission is always free and concessions are available.

11:00 am – 5:00 pm – SweetWater Shrimp Fest at Sunset Cove at Lake Lanier Islands. SweetWater Brewery and Lake Lanier Islands Resort partner together for the annual SweetWater Shrimp Fest at Sunset Cove! We’re highlighting all things Georgia at this year’s event — your favorite SweetWater drafts, delicious Georgia-raised shrimp and seafood, beautiful views of Lake Lanier, local restaurants and food vendors — you get the picture. The top 10 local restaurants will be featured, live music from Riley Biederer, SweetWater Summer Beer Garden and more! Its fun for the whole family with a Kids Zone and volleyball games! Join in on all the fun by boat or by car! Live Entertainment: Riley Biederer from 6-10 pm, Admission: $10 parking fee | $10 entry fee/person

11:15 am – 12:15 pm – Post Road Library Saturday Family Story Time. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is for children aged 4-8 but bring the whole family!

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Saturday Story Time at Cumming Library. This storytime includes books, music, and activities. It is designed for ages 4 – 8, but the whole family is welcome to attend.

Sunday, May 4

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – 80s Movie Matinee at Hampton Park Library. Due to licensing restrictions, we can’t advertise the titles of our movies online. However, see if you can guess this week’s film by the following description: Unemployed parapsychologists attempt to rid New York of evil monstrous apparitions that are taking over the city. Sigourney Weaver costars as Dana Barrett, the cellist whose strange happenings in her apartment lead the ghost hunting team into the clutches of a punitory poltergeist.

The Cumming Aquatic Center Outdoor Leisure Pool will open for the season this weekend, with 1 session being offered on Saturdays & Sundays only from May 3rd-18th from 1-6pm. For more information regarding their hours & fees, please visit their website at www.cummingaquaticcenter.com or give them a call at 770-781-1781.

Warbington Farms Play Park – Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sunday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Picking Update: We will open the patch again tomorrow (May 2) from 9am-1pm for strawberry picking. Starting Saturday May 3, we will begin our regular strawberry hours:
Mondays: Closed
Tuesdays-Saturdays: 9am-5pm
Sundays: 1pm-5pm
-$12 U-pick Gallon, $14 pre-pick gallon. We will start taking orders for pre-pick on Tuesday May 6th.

Fun Park will be open the same hours as strawberry picking.
Fun Park Admission Saturday and Sunday- $8 kids, $5 adults (includes hayride, corn-crib, petting zoo, slides, tire yard, playground, and unlimited FUN!). Fun Park Admission Tuesday-Friday $3 adults, $5 kids *no hayride

Rucker Pet, at 5456 Bethelview Road, will be hosting their Dixie Dock Dogs Jump into Summer event this weekend. If you haven’t seen this live before, you are in for a treat. We loved watching the dogs jump into the water. Beginning Friday, May 2, 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm; Saturday, May 3, 9:00am – 6:00 pm, and Sunday, May 4, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Better Moonwalks of Georgia will also be providing a combo bouncer all weekend, to entertain the kids!
