Friday, August 29 – Costco opens!

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – The Vickery Village Farmers Market. This farmers market is one of few in which the produce is truly farm fresh … wherein the farmer is the grower. Saturday, August 30

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Grandparents Day Card. Why not spoil the grandparents? Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. The Only Alex Addleston in These Mountains Storytime. Alex Addleston and Alex Addleston do everything together. But when Alex’s parents move her family to Kenya, the two friends lose contact with each other. One day, just maybe, they will rediscover what it means to be best friends, no matter what.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road Library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is great for the whole family!

1:15 pm – 2:15 pm – Stranger Danger Program with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office – Post Road Library. Presented by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, this valuable program educates kids on the dangers of strangers and teaches specific techniques for protection against them. Please register to attend. Children will be divided into appropriate age groups, 4-7 years & 8-11 years.

IPRA World Championship Rodeo at the Cumming Fairgrounds Covered Arena from August 29-31, 2014 – Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 7:00 pm (Tickets go on sale 2 hours prior to the show) Gate Admission: Adults $15.00, Children 5-12 $10.00, 4 and under FREE, Seniors 65 & up $12.00. This is an 8 event Rodeo that includes: Bull Riding, Bare Back Riding, Barrel Racing, Cowgirl Breakaway Roping, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and Saddle Bronc Riding.

Labor Day Monday
Totally Running – Please join us for the Labor Day Run for Autism on 9/1/2014! 5K/10K begin at 7:30am with the Fun Run to follow at 9am, rain or shine! Packet pickup is Sunday, August 31 from 11am to 6pm. Shirts are guaranteed until 8/8/2014 so register early! Awards: overall male/female 1st,2nd,3rd -overall masters male/female-1st place age group awards ages 10 and under – 65.

Will to Win 5k – Charity Run for Children’s Cancer at Fowler Park. To celebrate and honor the life of Will Abernathy, we bring you the 4th annual Will to Win 5k and 1 mile fun run. Will touched so many people in his community and across the world with his determination and bravery in battling 2 cancers, stage IV neuroblastoma and treatment related AML. He overcame every obstacle that stood in his way and faced every day with the hope and passion to live life happy, as we all should! All funds raised through this run support research for pediatric cancer. The Fund is managed by Cure Childhood Cancer.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. Cars & Trucks & Things That Go Story Time. Join us August 23 at 11:00 am for Hometown Hero Storytime featuring Cars and Trucks and Things That Go! Stories, guest readers and activities will round out the fun. Story will be read by an officer from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department! Please join the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department after Storytime for a hands-on visit in a real police car!

11:15 am – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime.

Sunday, August 24

1:30 pm – 5:00 pm – Post Road Library One Year Birthday Celebration! Join them for stories, songs and a visit from Corduroy the Bear! Have cake and make some birthday crafts in celebration of the library’s first year.

5:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Pooches on the Patio at The Ridge Restaurant. Dogs are invited (must be on a 5 ‘ leash, spayed/neutered and good with other dogs). The ridge will provide a Special Fun Menu for drinks and food! $5.00 Cover Charge per person at the door. Proceeds benefit The Humane Society of Forsyth County.
