Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for October 3 – October 5, 2014

IMG_0483Fall festivities are abound this weekend in Forsyth County, GA! The Cumming Country Fair and Festival opened yesterday and runs through October 12. Also check out our list of Pumpkin Patches in and around Forsyth County and Apple Picking Orchards in North Georgia.

Friday, October 3

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – The Vickery Village Farmers Market. This farmers market is one of few in which the produce is truly farm fresh … wherein the farmer is the grower. 11:15 AM – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library – Preschool Pals Story time – These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader. This program is suggested for children, ages 3-5, with a caregiver. Advance registration is not required for this program.

7:00 pm – Warbington Farms Haunted Trail. There are two “Haunted Trail Nights” in October. The Haunted Farm Trail is October 3rd & 17th – the trail opens at dusk and last ticket sold at 9 pm. There is a $7 admission for Haunted Trail, fire-pit, and marshmallows! Are you brave enough to walk through the trail?? Beware…only the COWS can hear you SCREAM!

Saturday, October 4

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office – It’s that time of year again! Come by and see us at the both Home Depot locations (1000 Market Place Blvd and 2635 Peachtree Parkway) for the Celebrating Safe Communities event on Saturday October 4th from 9 a.m. till 12 p.m.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Central Park Community Yard Sale. Forsyth County Parks and Recreation invites you to visit the Central Park Recreation Center parking area for a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. Event organizers expect attendees to have the opportunity to browse the yard sale for items such as household goods, furniture, clothing, children’s toys and more. 9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop. Learn how to build an EMS truck for fire safety month! Free hands-on kids workshop for kids ages 5 – 12.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Hand painted Halloween rocks. Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – 5:00 pm – Warbington Farms fun park – they have hey rides, pedal cars, petting zoo, pumpkin patch, fun park with inflatables, birthday parties, fire pit rentals and much more! See their website and Facebook page for hours, pricing and events.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Story time. Reading and activities for kids.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road Library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is great for the whole family!

Sunday, October 5

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Marie’s Italian Deli, Bakery & Market 2nd Anniversary & Customer Appreciation Day. Meatball eating contest, face painting, balloon twisters, drawings to win pizza, and kids 12 and under eat free with a paying adult! Smoked italian sausage on the grill.

2:30 pm – 5:00 pm – Forsyth County Senior Services Fall Concert at Sexton Hall Enrichment Center. “Autumn’s Refrain: A Fall Concert.” The concert will feature live music by the Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band. Light refreshments are included in the admission price. The cost is $5 in advance and $8 at the doors, which open at 2 p.m. on October 5. For more information, call Senior Services at 770.781.2178. Sexton Hall Enrichment Center is located at 2115 Chloe Road, just off of Sharon Road between Peachtree Parkway and Old Atlanta Road.

Kinsey Family Farm is open for the fall season. Pick a pumpkin, take a hay ride, have a picnic and much more at this wonderful local family farm.

Warbington Farms is open for the fall season. Fridays 1 pm – 6 pm, Saturdays 11 am – 6 pm (fun park closes at 5 pm, Sundays 1pm – 5pm.

Cumming Country Fair & Festival – October 2 – October 12, 2014. Visit the Cumming Fairgrounds and enjoy an old-fashioned country fair and festival.

Near Forsyth County

Hillcrest Orchards Apple Picking Jubilee – where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and much more.

Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch is open for the fall season! Get lost in the corn maze, pick out a pumpkin, shoot the cannon, take a hayride and more!
