Humane Society of Forsyth County Thrift Store – 168 Tri-County Plaza, Cumming, Georgia. Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm. Donations are accepted 10:00am to 5:00pm  Monday-Saturday. If you have furniture or large items please call 770-886-5806 to schedule a pick up.

Abba House Thrift Stores in Silver City 6800 Dahlonega Highway Cumming, Ga 30028, and Dawsonville at 243 Stowers Road E Dawsonville, Ga 30534. Abba House Thrift Store location hours are Monday – Saturday from 9:00am – 5:45pm. At Abba House, their ministries are focused on “helping broken women be made whole” by helping them break free from addiction and abuse.

The PIER Thrift Store & Consignment Center provides individuals with disabilities work experience, thereby enabling them to discover and develop their unique capabilities and potential, and to help them achieve the highest degree of independence and the best quality of life possible. Located at 5185 Browns Bridge Rd. Cumming, GA 30041 & 1862 Buford Highway in Cumming. Open Tuesday-Saturday – 10:00-6:00 P.M.

Family Haven Thrift Store is located at 598 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Cumming, GA 30040. Forsyth County Family Haven’s Thrift Store serves two very unique and vital functions for our organization. Victims of violence and their families are offered vouchers to shop in our store and obtain the items that they need free of charge. The vouchers enable individuals to select clothing for themselves and for their children, household items such as coffemakers and dishes, and furniture items like couches and chairs to assist them as they move into their self-supportive housing. Secondly, our thrift store is open to the public after our clients have selected the items that they need. The funds that are obtained from sales to the public go into the operating fund for Forsyth County Family Haven, Inc. Hours are 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Mondays through Fridays and 10:00 AM-5:00 PM Saturdays. Donations welcome.

No Longer Bound Thrift Store is located at 315 Dahlonega Hwy in downtown Cumming, Ga.  We offer an upscale retail environment offering a wide variety of affordably priced inventory for your shopping pleasure. No Longer Bound Resale is a non-profit industry of the men’s regeneration program, No Longer Bound. To learn a little more about our program and about how lives are saved, check out our main page at Open Mondays – Saturdays from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Bargain Boutique is Whispering Hope’s upscale resale shop in Cumming, Ga. The Boutique is open to the public as a thrift store with something for everyone. Inside the store you will also find what we call the Mommy Store which is where clients of Whispering Hope can spend their Mommy Money and Daddy Dollars that they earn by attending classes offered by the center. We also offer fantastic bargain shopping to the public with all proceeds supporting the ministry of Whispering Hope.

The non-profit store operates through donations by the public. The Bargain Boutique is run by a manager and volunteers from churches and the community. The store is conveniently located off Hwy 9 and Hwy 20, in the Tri-County Shopping Plaza by Big Lots and Auto Zone. We’re open both to clients and the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10am – 6pm.

The Place of Forsyth County Thrift Store – 2550 The Place Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. The Place is a nonprofit Social Service Organization that has been serving Forsyth County families in difficult times since 1975 with emergency basic needs.

Haunted Houses and Ghost Tours Near Cumming, GA for Halloween 2014

haunted houses in cumming, gaFor those of you who enjoy a good scare, here are some local haunts to visit in Forsyth County, GA for Halloween fun.

Hayes Haunt – 7435 Cavaletti Circle, Cumming, Georgia  30040. Friday and Saturday nights, including Oct. 24, 25, 31, and an encore Nov. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person (proceeds go to The Place of Forsyth.) Allow 15 to 20 minutes to walk through the haunt.

Admission is $5.00 and for timid guests, a special protective amulet is available for purchase to ward off the monsters for a Hayes Haunt Light experience. *No public bathroom, so make sure you go before you go!

Haunted Corn Maze

Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch Haunted Maze: The Dark Rows is a wickedly fun nighttime journey into the twisted trails of the moonlit cornfield. Bring your friends, bring your family, or brave the path solo. Just be warned, you will not be alone! The misty October night air always seems to bring out the worst in this little patch of corn. Come see what fiendish family fun can be found lurking among the Dark Rows! It’s a scary good time…

And all for a good cause, since a portion of the admission to the Haunted Maze is donated to Dawson County High School.  Admission is $13 for the Haunted Maze and two regular mazes, or $16 for the Value Combo (Hayride Plus the Haunted Maze, bonfire, two regular mazes). Haunts begin at dusk on the dates listed below and the last ticket sold at 10 p.m. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent. No flashlights allowed. Regular maze trails are open during haunt season as well.
