Weekend Events in Cumming, GA for October 31 – November 2, 2014

fallfestivalIt’s hard to believe that it’s already November this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour on Saturday night! It will be nice to have that extra hour after Halloween activities! Here is a roundup of things to do this weekend.

Friday, October 31

11:00 am – Cumming Library – Trick or Treat story time and costume parade! Dress up in your costume and join us at the library for a special storytime featuring holiday books, music, and activities.  After storytime, children will be able to show off their costumes in the library and “trick or treat” with library staff. Please bring a bag for your candy. Registration is not required.

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library – Preschool Pals Story time – Trick or treat story time and Halloween parade! These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader. This program is suggested for children, ages 3-5, with a caregiver. Advance registration is not required for this program.

October 31 – Kids eat free in costume on Halloween at Beef O’Bradys in Cumming, GA! One free kids meal per adult meal purchase. Costa Vida also has a kids in costume eat free on Halloween special. Pizzeria Azzuri also welcomes trick or treaters!

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Publix at Hammond Crossing – trick or treat at Publix! Get a coloring sheet and candy too!

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Trunk or Treat Forsyth at Highlands Church. 43 Canton Highway, Cumming, GA. Highlands Church has partnered with Forsyth County! Hayrides, inflatables, hot dogs, giveaways, trunk or treat. Get autographs from your favorite Disney Princesses and Superheroes!

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Christ Community Church fall festival. Candy, games, food, face painting, camel rides & more! Food available for purchase.

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – First Redeemer Church – Fall family fun festival. Annual Fall Family Fun Festival with games and activities for children of all ages. There will be plenty of candy and children are encouraged to come dressed in kid-friendly costumes. Admission is one bag of individually wrapped candy. 2100 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, GA 30041.

Saturday, November 1

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Recycle Electronics – Cumming Fairgrounds Parking Lot 3 off of Castleberry Road. Keep Forsyth County Beautiful invites residents to make a positive impact on the environment by recycling their old, unused electronics during the upcoming electronics recycling event. Accepted items for recycling include laptops, stereos, CD players, cell phones, microwaves, cameras and more. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5 while an additional $20 fee will apply for each television. Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – First Baptist Church of Cumming – Fall Bazaar. Silent auction, crafters, art, antiques!

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop. Learn how to build a pallet coaster! Free hands-on kids workshop for kids ages 5 – 12. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Thankful Turkey Craft. Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. Dragons Love Tacos story time event.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road Library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is great for the whole family!

All Weekend

Hayes Haunt, 7435 Cavaletti Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. Friday and Saturday nights, including Oct. 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31, and an encore Nov. 1 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person (proceeds go to The Place of Forsyth.) For sensitive guests, “a protective amulet may be purchased and worn to ward off the monsters for a ‘Hayes Haunt Light’ experience,” according to hayeshaunt.com. Allow 15 to 20 minutes to walk through the haunt.
