Here’s a roundup of some fun things to do for our last weekend of summer vacation! It just went way too fast.

Friday, July 31

11:00 AM – Sharon Forks Library – Ken Scott’s Super Hero Magic Show  – Back by popular demand! Prepare to be amazed and astounded by magician Ken Scott. Voted Greater Atlanta Entertainer of the Year, Ken has performed all over Georgia and all over the country, too. He has even performed at The White House! All ages welcome and registration is not required.

7:00 PM Get Pop-Cultured: Dr. Seuss Spectacular! Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth. Join us in a celebration of Theodor Seuss Geisel known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss. There’s fun to be done! Events and activities galore to be explored on our Barnes & Noble book floor!

Saturday, August 1

7:00 am – 1:00 pm – Cumming Farmer’s Market at the Cumming Fairgrounds parking lot. Open for the season on Saturdays and Wednesdays!

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop – Make a chalkboard door hanger!

  • Come learn how to make a chalkboard door hnager
  • FREE hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 – 12
  • All kid get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.
  • Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis. Please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m.
  • Thank you for registering online to help us better plan our craft kit quantities needed

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Michaels Kids Club – Make a rain stick! Ages 3 and up are welcome to this event. See a store associate for details today. $2.00. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

11:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Cumming Dance Academy Back to School Bash – Victory Square off Bethelview Road. Bring your family and tiny dancers and join us as we say goodbye to summer!  CDA will be performing and giving away FREE dance classes and goodies!  Firehouse Barbershop & Salon will be offering kids haircuts for just $9.99!  Ice Cream Social will be selling ice cream and frozen ice for $3.00!  El Ivey Photography will also be attending and offering $20 off a family portrait session (up to 5 people).  This and much more!

11:00 AM Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth. If You Ever Want to Bring an Alligator to School, Don’t! Story time. Note to self: If your teacher tells you to bring something from nature for show-and-tell, she does not want you to bring an alligator! But nothing will stop Magnolia, who’s determined to have the best show-and-tell of all! Join us for a fun-filled Storytime.

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Belk Back to School Kidfest – Come join us for face painting, balloon artist, refreshments, prizes and fashion show. We are looking for child models to be in our 2:00 fashion show. Models receive 20% the outfit they choose to model in our show. Enjoy music by DJ Warren, crafts from Giggle Studio and activities with Hoops N’ Sands. Looking for participants in our Kidfest Model Search Contest, winners will have the opportunity to appear in a Belk catalogue!

Farmers Produce Market and City Produce markets are open!

Lake Lanier Islands is open! They have a new CAT4 tube slide that plunges into the lake!

The Old Atlanta spray pad is open!
