Friday, September 25

10:00 AM – Hampton Park Library – Busy Builders. Let’s build something together! Playing with LEGO and other building blocks can help develop your child’s cognitive learning and social skills! Every Friday morning we will set out a collection of kid-friendly building blocks for an engaging and educational drop-in playtime. You bring your creativity, we’ll provide the rest! All ages are welcome to attend this family program. Registration is not required, drop-in anytime!

11:15 PM – Post Road Library – Preschoolers @ Post – Kid Craft. Educate and entertain your little learner, aged 3-5, at the Post Road Library. Join us on Fridays for a variety of preschool play each week. Throughout the month we will offer a music class, center-based play, science and STEM for the preschool set and a craft day, perfect for little fingers and growing imaginations! For ages 3-5. No registration required.

Saturday, September 26

8:00 am – iRUN for Forsyth BYOT 5K and Fun Run, Peachtree Certified and Chip Timed – the first race produced by the Forsyth BYOT Benefit! Piney Grove Middle and Shiloh Point Elementary Schools  8135 Majors Road, Cumming, GA  30041

8:00 am – 1:00 pm – Lake Lanier Shore Sweep. This year’s 12 participating locations are Lanier Islands, Clarks Bridge, Longwood, Don Carter, Gwinnett and War Hill parks; Aqualand, Bald Ridge, Gainesville and Port Royale marinas; and Balus Creek and Big Creek boat ramps. Volunteers who turn in at least one full bag of trash get a T-shirt. Advance registration isn’t required but helps the association plan shoreline coverage. Those interested in participating should email lakeinfo@lakelanier.org.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – A FREE Kids Fishing Event, takes place on Saturday, September 26 from 9 am to 1 pm at The Lower Pool Park, Below Buford Dam. All Kids Age 15 & Under – must be accompanied by an adult. Fly tying, fishing demonstrations and volunteers are available to help with baiting hooks and removing fish. The Buford Trout Hatchery will stock over 2,500 Rainbow Trout at the Dam on the morning of the event! A limited number of fishing poles will be available as loaner poles. 

Hot Dogs, Drinks, and Snacks will be provided at No Charge! LIFE JACKETS ARE RECOMMENDED. BAIT WILL BE PROVIDED. NO FISHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Jake’s Take Aim trailer will be on site with instructional shooting for kids. Free and Fun – a winning combination! Hosted by the Cumming Kiwanis Club, Forsyth Cumming Optimist Club, The Georgia Wildlife Resource Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Upper Chattahoochee Chapter Trout Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Hammond’s Fishing Center and Hummingbird.

*CANCELLED due to rain – 9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Community Yard Sale – Forsyth County Parks and Recreation are hosting community yard sale at Central Park, 2300 Keith Bridge Road in Cumming.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – FCSO – Do you have any extra prescription medication sitting around your home that is expired or unused? The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Lakeside Pharmacy, is participating in the National Take Back Initiative for the collection of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription drugs. This event is being held at Lakeside Pharmacy (1505 Northside Forsyth Dr.) at Northside Forsyth Hospital, on September 26th between 9:00 am-1:00 pm. This initiative is an effort to help reduce the amount of controlled substances in our community.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make a candy corn banner! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Storytime and activities featuring Max the Brave, a fearless kitten with a problem – he needs to know what a mouse looks like!

11:15 AM – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime at Post. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road library. We’ll have books, dancing and fun! This storytime is great for the whole family!

WEEKEND LUNAR ECLIPSE

Happy Fall, Y’all! This year’s harvest moon on September 27 & September 28 is a super moon that also features a rare total lunar eclipse on Sunday night!
