weekend events in forsyth county gaThe first weekend of November brings rain and lots of festivals and craft fairs! Here is a roundup of events in Forsyth County, GA this weekend.

Friday, November 6

9:00 am – 3:00 pm – Creekside UMC Holiday Showcase – Unique Christmas shopping with OVER 70 VENDORS providing gift and home decor items. $1 admission. Located at: 673 Peachtree Parkway, Bldg. A, Cumming, GA 30041.

10:00 am – Hampton Park Library Busy Builders.

11:15 am – Post Road Library Preschoolers @ Post – Musical Morning.

3:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Mini Maker Faire all weekend. Join us in the Make & Collaborate space for the highly collaborative and interactive activities for a variety of ages. Featured materials included in the sessions: Ages 5+ – LEGO BIONICLE, Snap Circuits, Ages 8+ – littleBits Electronic Building Blocks, Cool Paper Machines, Adults 13+ – LEGO Architecture, Catapult Build. Check the website for details.

Saturday, November 7

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Family Promise Festival and Bed Race – The Bed Race & Festival will be held on Saturday, November 7th, at the Forsyth Central High School From 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Participants can arrive as early as 7:00 AM for setup. Visitors can vote (with their dollars) for the most original, and funniest beds. At 10:00 AM the actual races will begin and the skill and speed of the participants will determine the fastest entries. The money raised by each team will determine coveted Merit Award for Fundraising. Between the races and the judging of beds, visitors are encouraged to visit the various booths and help individual groups raise money. Those booths will also be eligible for prizes based on originality and fundraising achievements.

9:00 am – 3:00 pm – First Baptist Cumming Fall Bazaar. Unique Christmas and gift items, artwork, antiques. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. $1.00 admission. Bake sale.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Electronics Recycling Event at the Cumming Fairgrounds. Wondering how to dispose of your old electronics? For a donation of $5 per carload, $20 each television, and $5 for each computer monitor, you can clean house and help keep Forsyth County cleaner. E-recycle is November 7th, 2015 at the City of Cumming Fairgrounds. ACCEPTABLE ELECTRONICS: Computers, Monitors, Printers, Typewriters, Stereos, CD Players, Cell Phones, Fax Machines, Copiers, Projectors, VCRs, CB Radios, Camcorders, Cameras, Telephones, Cables, Circuit Boards, Network Equipment, Radios, Record Players, UPS/Battery Backup, Computer Parts, Computer Cables, Laptops, DVDs, Keyboards.

10:00 am – 3:00 pm – Fall Fest at the Abba House  in Dawsonville, GA. Located at the 243 Stowers Road, Dawsonville, GA at the 400 North Abba House Thrift Store (intersection of GA-400 and GA-136). This is an ENTIRELY free event! Please join them for their second annual Fall Festival with entertainment, games, food, fellowship, and fun! 10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Kids Club® wish list ornament! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!
11:00 am – 2:00 pm – Kickin Chicken BBQ at Creekside UMC – Women’s Ministry will be offering Home-made Kickin’ Chicken Chili at the annual Holiday Showcase on Saturday, November 7th from 11am-2pm. Chili dogs and take home quarts will be available as well. Tickets are available in the Atrium on Sunday mornings. Chicken Chili Plates are $8, Chili dogs are $5, and Chicken Chili Quarts are $12. Buy a few quarts for quick meal planning during the holidays. Pre-sales are encouraged as chili will sell out fast!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. A special Storytime featuring the titles Iggy Peck, Architect and Rosie Revere, Engineer.
