weekend events in forsyth county gaThe first weekend of December brings lots of festive and fun events for families in Forsyth County. Check out some neat things to do this holiday season.

Friday, December 4

10:00 am – Hampton Park Library Busy Builders. Let’s build something together! Did you know that playing with LEGO and other building blocks can help develop your child’s cognitive learning and social skills? Every Friday morning we will set out a collection of kid-friendly building blocks for an engaging and educational drop-in playtime. You bring your creativity, we’ll provide the rest! All ages are welcome to attend this family program. Registration is not required, drop-in anytime!

6:00 – 8:00 p.m. – Start the weekend off on Friday at the Celebration of Lights at Northside Hospital – Forsyth with live entertainment from local schools and groups, children activities, photos with Santa and the lighting of the giant Christmas tree atop the hospital. Northside Hospital – Forsyth, 1200 Northside Forsyth Drive, Cumming, GA 30041.

7:00 PM – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth. Polar Express story time. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Polar Express, we will be hosting a pajama party. There will be games, crafts and tons of fun!

Saturday, December 5

7:30 am registration, 8:30 race starts – MarketPlace Christmas – Jingle Jog 5K –  On Saturday, participate in a short run/walk in the Jingle Jog 5K that takes you down Mary Alice Park Road and back to Market Place Boulevard. 2056 Market Place Blvd.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop – Holiday Stacking Blocks

  • Join our hands-on workshop and build fun holiday stacking blocks. Then, decorate your project with fun stickers and different paint colors.
  • All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Clothespin characters! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

10:30 AM – Cumming Library Sensitive Santa – These special Santa visits are designed specifically for children with sensory or other special needs and their families.  Registration is required to attend.  To register, please contact our library branches directly using the contact information below.

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Complimentary Photos with Santa and Carriage Rides at The Collection Forsyth. Bring your camera! Enjoy complimentary pictures with Santa and Carriage Rides at The Collection Forsyth every Saturday and photos with Santa every Sunday from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm in December. 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm –  Little Mill Middle School’s Annual Holiday Market featuring over 50 local vendors to shop from, including locally handcrafted items, pottery, jewelry, candles, food, home décor, skincare, and many more!  Enter our raffles for great prizes from over 50 vendor items, large gift baskets from local area business partners.  Event details: Saturday, December 5th from 1pm-5pm at Little Mill Middle School, 6800 Little Mill Road, Cumming, GA 30041. Free Admission!

11:00 AM Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth. How the Grinch Stole Christmas story time. Join us for a coloring and activities Storytime as we celebrate all things Grinch with a special event featuring the book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Sunday, December 6

2:00 PM – Cumming Library One World Forsyth – Scotland – Dancing, treats and crafts await while the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society performs traditional Scottish dance! No registration required.
