weekend events in forsyth county gaThe weekend’s here and the temperatures are going to be spring-like! Here is a round up of fun things to do in Forsyth County, GA this weekend.

Friday, February 19

10:00 AM – Hampton Park Library  Busy Builders – Let’s build something together! Did you know that playing with LEGO and other building blocks can help develop your child’s cognitive learning and social skills? Every Friday morning we will set out a collection of kid-friendly building blocks for an engaging and educational drop-in playtime. You bring your creativity, we’ll provide the rest! All ages are welcome to attend this family program. Registration is not required, drop-in anytime!

11:15 AM – Cumming Library  Read, Build, Play – Read, Build, Play is an interactive story time that encourages development of early literacy in preschoolers. The program is designed for children ages 2-5 accompanied by a caregiver and is approximately 45 minutes long. It includes stories, music, activities, and play time with Duplo Legos all related to a creative theme.

11:15 AM – Post Road Library – Preschoolers @ Post – Centers for Success – Explore their sensory table.

Cumming Aquatic Center is excited to be offering half price daily admission on the 3rd Friday of each month beginning on Friday, January 15th, 2016. Saturday, February 20

CASA Superhero Run 5K 2016 – Run, walk, fly to support CASA of Forsyth County because every child needs a hero, but abused and neglected children need SUPERHEROES!  Join us Saturday, February20, 2016 at Fowler Park. The 5K begins at 8:00 am; 1K fun run begins at 9:00 am. Registration form HERE or online.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels KIDS CLUB: Monogram clothespin frame. Ages 3 and up are welcome to this event. See a store associate for details today. $2.00. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble story time at The Collection Forsyth. Join us on Saturday, February 20 at 11:00AM to celebrate author Beatrix Potter’s beloved and mischievous bunny with The Classic Tale of Peter Rabbit: And Other Cherished Stories. These adventure-filled stories are brought to life with vivid original illustrations from illustrator Charles Santore. Activities will round out the fun.

FREE WOOD CHIPS

Are you working on a landscaping project, or planning for one in the spring? Free wood chips made from recycled Christmas trees and county-cleared limbs are available seven days a week, first come, first served, to county residents for pickup just inside of Coal Mountain Park. Residents are responsible for bringing their own shovels and equipment for loading and hauling. Coal Mountain Park is located at 3560 Settingdown Road in northern Forsyth County.
