1:15 PM – Post Road Library New Years Eve Dance Party!  – It’s time to put on your dancing shoes and come celebrate New Year’s Eve with a fun dance party! We will shimmy and shake to our favorite dances and have a special countdown to our very own balloon-drop! This is a family event for all ages! No registration required.

6:00 pm – 10:00 pm – The Final Countdown: A Teen’s New Year’s Eve Party hosted by Music Authority. Music Authority’s Final Countdown is an 18 AND UNDER event and a safe way to spend your New Year’s Eve. Rock the night away with live music, great coffee from Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee at The Warehouse, and a balloon drop to close out the party right here in Forsyth County. Presented by Music Authority and The Warehouse, the coffee shop will be open, concessions and merchandise will be available for purchase, and let’s not forget that some of the best young bands in the area will be performing. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the music will play until 10 pm.

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful offers a wonderful recycling program right here in Forsyth County, GA.

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) invites residents to continue their annual tradition of recycling thousands of Christmas trees during the “Bring One for the Chipper” Christmas tree recycling event through January 30.

Christmas trees can be dropped off at locations conveniently located throughout the county where a wood chipper will process the trees into mulch.

On the designated dates and times, Christmas trees can be dropped off at the following locations:

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) invites residents to recycle their Christmas trees during the annual ‘Bring One for the Chipper’ event from December 26 through January 30. Last year, Forsyth County recycled 3,380 trees.

“Forsyth County has recycled 101,242 Christmas trees since the county began participating in the ‘Bring One for the Chipper’ program in 1994,” said Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright. “All of the Christmas trees brought to us for recycling have either been placed in the lake as fish habitat or chipped into reusable mulch. We look forward to keeping trees out of landfills every year.”

On the designated dates and times, Christmas trees can be dropped off at the following Forsyth County locations:

Home Depot – 1000 Market Place Boulevard
Home Depot – 2635 Peachtree Parkway
January 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vickery Creek Elementary School – 6280 Post Road
December 26 through January 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tolbert Street Recycling Convenience Center – 351 Tolbert Street
December 26 through January 30 (closed on Sundays), from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Old Atlanta Recycling Convenience Center – 3678 Old Atlanta Road
December 26 through January 30 (closed on Sundays), from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Coal Mountain Recycling Convenience Center – 3560 Settingdown Road
December 26 through January 30 (closed on Sundays), from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All three county recycling convenience centers will close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, and remain closed until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, in observance of New Year’s Day. The centers will also be closed Monday, January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Wood chips made from the recycled trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis year-round to county residents, just inside Coal Mountain Park located at 3560 Settingdown Road. Residents are responsible for loading and hauling their own wood chips.

Christmas Light Shows Around Forsyth County, GA in 2016

Christmas Light Shows in Cumming, GAIt’s holiday festivity time, and with it comes light shows! Pack the kids in the car, brew some hot chocolate and enjoy an evening drive of viewing Christmas lights.

There are local Christmas light shows in Forsyth County, GA, Alpharetta and Dawsonville for the 2016 holiday season as well as the Lanier Islands Christmas!

The Christmas in Castille light show is located at 4220 Tivoli Way, Alpharetta, GA 30004. The show starts at 6 PM and runs until 9 PM on Thursdays – Saturdays beginning on Dec 1st through Dec 24th. The neighborhood is gated so when the gates close for the night, the show ends. When you drive up, tune your radio to 89.9FM. Check out their FB page for updates and weather alerts.

Lanier Islands Christmas – nightly – 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Get ready to be amazed by one of the best holiday light displays in the southeast. Drive through miles of dazzling lights and experience the joy of the season here at Lanier Islands! Magical Lights FROM FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2016 TO TUESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2017. The arrival of Magical Lights, is a Georgia holiday tradition. For a quarter century Lanier Islands has been the ultimate place to visit near Atlanta for holiday light displays.
