6:30 am – 10:30 am – Cumming Farmers Market at the Cumming Fairgrounds parking lot on Castleberry Road in Cumming, GA. Open Saturdays and Wednesdays during the summer season. Last day of the season!

9:00 am – 3:00 pm – 12th Annual Cruising in the Country Car and Truck Show hosted by Mayfield Baptist Church, in Gainesville, GA, Forsyth County. Come join us for a day filled with good fellowship, great food, and beautiful cars!  Oh, and did I mention, the homemade ice cream? Pumpkin Patches In and Around Forsyth County, GA in 2017

pumpkin patches in forsyth county gaBelieve it or not, Fall 2017 pumpkin season is here in North Georgia! Here are a few neat places to pick a pumpkin in and around Forsyth County, GA.

For years, we have been going to Kinsey Family Farm in Forsyth County, GA to pick out our annual pumpkin. Unfortunately, the Kinsey Farm was hit pretty hard by Irma, so please check their website and FB page for their open times.

The farm features hayrides, barn animals and catfish to feed in the pond among other fun things. There are picnic tables if you would like to bring a picnic lunch. Sample their caramel apples or boiled peanuts (available after 10/1.) They also have a 25,000 square foot nursery and during the holidays you can pick out a Christmas tree and enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows.

The farm is open every day in October and features a wide variety of pumpkins as well as apples, gourds, corn stalks, indian corn, straw bales, and much more. Check out their fall harvest shop and pick up some apples, salsa, jam, honey, breads, preserves and much more!

Pumpkin Patches in Forsyth County, GA

Warbington Farms – 5555 Crow Road, Cumming, GA – Opens for fall season on weekends from September 16, 2017 – November 4, 2017. The Pumpkin Patch at Cumming First United Methodist Church is located at 770 Canton Highway, Cumming, GA. Opening late afternoon on September 30, the pumpkin patch will be open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Saturdays and 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sundays – Fridays throughout the month of October. They are also hosting a Food Truck Fall Festival on October 8th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm which includes food trucks, live music, inflatables for kids, and hay rides. Pick Your Own Apples in North Georgia in 2017

pick your own apples orchards north georgiaFall is here which means football, pumpkin patches, corn mazes and apple picking! We love to visit an apple orchard in North Georgia and pick apples for the day. It’s a wonderful way to visit North Georgia and see our beautiful state.

Red Apple Barn at Little Bend Orchard – You pick apples and pumpkins. Pick your own Wildflowers too! Hay rides, get a cup of cold cider, apple cider doughnut and opportunity to pick an apple. Hours: 9 am – 6 pm Mondays – Saturdays, 12:30 – 5:30 pm Sundays. You pick apples 10:30 am – 5 pm. Georgia Apple Festival – Oct 14 & 15 and Oct. 21 & Oct. 22, 2017. Location is at the Lions Club Fairgrounds on 1729 South Main the 2nd & 3rd weekends of October. There are around 300 vendors that participate each weekend with music, car shows, entertainment and of course about any kind of specialty products from the vendors. Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds, 1729 South Main Street, Ellijay, GA 30540. Phone: 706-636-4500. Saturday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sunday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Adults $5, children under 10 are free. Parking is limited, shuttle buses are recommended to take. The antique car show is held at the Civic Center on October 14th. The parade is on October 21st and begins at 10 AM in historic downtown Ellijay.
Location is at 1 Broad Street on the downtown Ellijay square the 2nd & 3rd weekends of October. Stroll around downtown Ellijay and enjoy the sites. There are typically 50-60 vendors up the street by the Courthouse. There is of course plenty of apples, local food vendors and a wide variety of other unique arts and crafts. The second weekend is the downtown parade which is one of the biggest in the area. Hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday during the Apple Festival dates.
Blue Ridge, GA
Mercier Orchards – Blue Ridge, GA – Apple U-PICK – Weekends through October – Prices: Tractor tours, apple u-pick, tractor tours, hard cider tours. Try out their new apple cannon! Hours: Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am – 4:00pm. This event is weather permitting. If you are making a long trip to see us, call ahead to confirm.  Varieties: The types of apples ready to be picked varies throughout the season. If you are looking for a specific variety of apple, feel free to call us for an estimate on when it will be available. We are currently picking Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome, Cameo, Topaz, Jonagold, Granny Smith, Mutsu, Braeburn, Jonaprince, September Wonder, Ambrosia, and McIntosh apples. These apples are first come first served, so get here early if you’re looking for a specific type! You can also pick a pumpkin! They also have a bakery, deli, market store, and farm winery. Hillcrest Orchards Fall 2017 Apple Picking Season

hillcrestVisit Hillcrest Orchards farm market this weekend for fresh picked apples! The bakers are cooking up hot apple pies, cider doughnuts and apple fritters hot out of the fryer. Hop on the wagon for a relaxing ride through the orchard. Visit the petting farm with a new crop of baby farm animals waiting to be hugged and petted.

Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their Apple Pickin’ Jubilee on September 9, 2017 and it runs every weekend through October 29. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig swimming races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm, take a wagon ride through the orchard and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage.

Visit the playground, fly on a zip line and ride a giant slide down the mountain. There is a new kids play area for extra fun. You can even get your picture made on one of their live steers. Jump for Joy in the Giant Jumping Pillow! Get Lost in the New Corny Kids’ Maze! Check out their Visitor’s Guide for all of the attractions and activities.

Visit the bakery and ice cream parlor for homemade fried apple pies, apple cider doughnuts, apple fritters, homemade ice cream and fudge. Wash it all down with some fresh cold apple cider. They will have the grill fired up outside in the festival area for hamburgers, hotdogs and barbecue along with Billy Bob’s famous boiled peanuts, turkey legs and roasted corn.

Friday games begin at 6:00 pm on Fields 2-3 and Saturday games begin at 9:00 am on Fields 4-7. Admission is $5.00. Fourteen high school feeder teams will play in the tournament. In addition to playing some great softball for a worthy cause, the team is also selling Pink Out T-shirts, raffle tickets and will have a silent auction.

9:00 am – Pink Out Tournament – Central Park. Forsyth Central High School Softball Pink Out Tournament – Central Park. Each year the Forsyth Central High School Softball Team hosts a benefit Pink Out tournament for the Northside Hospital Cancer Center. This year the tournament is being held at Central Park on Friday September 8 and Saturday September 9. Friday games begin at 6:00 pm on Fields 2-3 and Saturday games begin at 9:00 am on Fields 4-7. Admission is $5.00. Fourteen high school feeder teams will play in the tournament. • FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 – 12 offered the 1st Saturday of
every month at all The Home Depot stores between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
• Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride
and accomplishment.
• All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make a Sprout floral windsock! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

10:00 am – 7:00 pm – Old Atlanta Spray Pad opens for the season at Old Atlanta Park, 810 Nichols Road until September 4. Daily admission for the spray pad is $2 per person for 1-year-olds and up. Only cash or check is accepted. Adults entering with a paying child are free if they remain on the dry deck. Annual individual passes are available for $30, and annual family passes are available for $60.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Uni the Unicorn and the Dream Come True Story time – Join us for Storytime and activities featuring the sequel to Uni the Unicorn. Follow Uni and the little girl who believes in unicorns, as they finally meet and work together to save a magical land and its inhabitants!
