8:00 AM – Fairy Tale Dash 5K/1 Mile for Jesse’s House Foster Home. Once upon a time there lived princesses that needed rescuing. These princesses all had one thing in common: their lives weren’t quite at the happily ever after chapter yet. They had endured dragons, evil queens, and so much more. They came to the kingdom for safety and protection. On October 15, 2016, come dressed up to run or walk in support of these princesses. Fairy Tale Dash for Jesse’s House offers a certified 5K course starting at Fowler Park continuing onto the beautiful Forsyth Big Creek Greenway and finishing coming back into the park. The 5k begins at 8am and is a flat, fast course. This race will be a 2017 Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Packet Pick Up is at Academy Sports in The Collections on Friday, October 14, 2016 1:30pm – 7:30pm. Packet pick up will also be available race day at the Large Pavilion at Fowler Park starting at 7:00am. Registration is now open.

9AM – 3PM – Monster Bash at Michaels. Bring your costumed kiddos in for some crafty Halloween fun. We’re making trick-or-treat bags for $2, painting faces for FREE and throwing hourly costume parades. While supplies last. Parent or guardian must remain on premises.

HALLOWEEN BOO BASH – North Georgia Premium Outlets presents it’s first BOO BASH for kids 12 and under! Saturday, October 31 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. FREE Trick-or-Treating bags for kids 12 and under at Guest Services located in the Food Pavilion (while supplies last) Trick-or-Treating at participating stores. Check back for more tricks and treats to come for kids 12 and under. Please note, only kids 12 and under may wear masks.

Trick or Treat Dahlonega – Ghosts, goblins, witches, wizards and more will be wandering the streets of Downtown Dahlonega on October 31st, 2015 at Trick-or-Treat Dahlonega. This event, brought to the community by the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants, provides a safe environment for parents to bring children trick or treating during daylight hours.

The event will take place on October 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, rain or shine. Trick-or-Treat Dahlonega is intended for children ages 12 and under and appropriate costumes are appreciated! For safety reasons, the roads will be closed and re-routed during the event.

Come watch the most exciting seven minutes of the year!  Kids’ competitions will be held for age groups Under 6, 7-10, and 11-17, with eight competitors per field. 1:15 pm – 2:15 pm – Stranger Danger Program with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office – Post Road Library. Presented by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, this valuable program educates kids on the dangers of strangers and teaches specific techniques for protection against them. Please register to attend. Children will be divided into appropriate age groups, 4-7 years & 8-11 years.

IPRA World Championship Rodeo at the Cumming Fairgrounds Covered Arena from August 29-31, 2014 – Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 7:00 pm (Tickets go on sale 2 hours prior to the show) Gate Admission: Adults $15.00, Children 5-12 $10.00, 4 and under FREE, Seniors 65 & up $12.00. Awards: overall male/female 1st,2nd,3rd -overall masters male/female-1st place age group awards ages 10 and under – 65.

Will to Win 5k – Charity Run for Children’s Cancer at Fowler Park. To celebrate and honor the life of Will Abernathy, we bring you the 4th annual Will to Win 5k and 1 mile fun run. Will touched so many people in his community and across the world with his determination and bravery in battling 2 cancers, stage IV neuroblastoma and treatment related AML. He overcame every obstacle that stood in his way and faced every day with the hope and passion to live life happy, as we all should! All funds raised through this run support research for pediatric cancer. The Fund is managed by Cure Childhood Cancer.

11:00 am – 2:30 pm – Annual BBQ and Turtle Race at the Foster House. Join us on the fourth of July for our 11th annual BBQ and Turtle Race. BBQ will be sold from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The turtle race will be held at 1 p.m. Registration starts at noon and there’s no fee to enter. Come hungry! 10:00 am – 1:00 pm – Dutch Monkey Doughnuts Annual Doughnut Eating Competition. Join us for the annual celebration of American gluttony! Four challengers will compete against the two-time champion for this year’s trophy. Come watch the most exciting seven minutes of the year! Adult competitors are amateurs and have been pre-selected. The main event begins at noon, with kids’ competitions preceding it. Kids’ competitions will be for age groups Under 6, 6-10, and 11-17, with eight competitors per field. Sign-ups for kids’ competitions begin at 9am, and are first come, first served.  Adults must pre-register, kids can sign up early the day of the competition. Save the Date–join their Facebook event page to get updated details about the July 4th doughnut eating competition, and invite your friends and family! Red, White & Blue 4th of July Party will be rocking Sunset Cove from 11 am – 10 pm. Entertainment includes a live remote from Kicks 101.5 from 4-7 pm. Second Hand Swagger takes the stage from 3-4:15 pm, followed by Convoy performing live from 6:30-9 pm. Fireworks light up the skies over the lake beginning at 10 pm.

Saturday, July 5th – July 4th Weekend Celebration at Lake Lanier Islands Resort continues:

Live music includes performances from Wylie Street Coyotes on the Big Beach Floating Stage from 1pm – 5pm, Gray Sartin at Gianni’s from 5pm – 9pm, and a full day of performances at Sunset Cove with Ashley Rivera taking the stage from 1pm – 5pm and Bama Gamblers from 6pm – 10pm. After dark, Paramount Pictures’ Captain America – starring Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson – lights up the screen as the weekend’s Beach Flick on Big Beach.
