Veterans Day Events, Freebies and Deals for 2015

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Forsyth County, GA has over 11,000 veterans.

Local Veterans Day Events & Celebrations

The Veterans Day and Marine Corps birthday celebration from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the football stadium at North Forsyth High School, 3635 Coal Mountain Road. It is free and open to the public.

Veterans Day Ceremony at the Veterans War Memorial in Cumming, GA on November 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Enjoy the music of the Flash of Crimson Band. The City of Cumming Mayor Gravitt will speak.

2015 Veterans’ Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 – Downtown Dawsonville, Presented by: Veterans Affairs of Dawson County.

Veterans Affairs of Dawson County will celebrate Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11 with lunch for Veterans at 1:00 p.m., Dawson County Middle School Cafeteria, Program at 2:00 in the school auditorium and parade through Downtown Dawsonville at 3:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to the program and parade. Applebee’s – Free meal for Veterans and Active military personnel on Wednesday, November 11, 2014. You’ll be able to choose a meal from a limited Veteran’s Day menu. You can see the complete menu by using the link above. This deal is dine-in only and beverages and gratuity are not included. You’ll need to bring in one proof of military service or ID.

Carrabba’s – If you are a veteran or active military member, you can stop by a Carrabba’s near you and get a free appetizer of your choice on Wednesday, November 11. There’s no purchase necessary or coupon required, and you’ll need to bring military ID or come in your uniform.

Chick-fil-a at The Collection Forsyth – We’re breaking out the red, white and blue for our Military Appreciation Night! If you’re active or retired military, bring your proof of service to any participating Atlanta area Chick-fil-A restaurant on November 11, 2015 from 5 pm – 8 pm to receive your choice of a FREE Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich Meal (Original or Grilled), a Chick-fil-A Nuggets Meal (8-count) or a Chick-fil-A Nuggets Kid’s Meal (4-count) for you and each immediate family member. It’s our way of saying thank you. One meal per person, while supplies last. Offer Valid only at Atlanta Area Chick-fil-A restaurants.

Visit Chili’s on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, to get your Veterans Day free meal if you are a veteran or on active military duty. Chili’s is offering all military veterans past and present their choice of one of 7 meals. Little Caesars® Pizza – On Wednesday, November 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., veterans and active military members can receive their free $5 Lunch Combo, which features four slices of Little Caesars popular Detroit-style DEEP!DEEP!™ Dish pizza, paired with a 20-ounce Pepsi product.

LongHorn Steakhouse is giving away free Texas Tonions and non-alcoholic beverages to veterans who stop into their local Longhorn Steakhouse on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. You’ll need to bring proof of service with you for this freebie such as wearing your uniform or showing Military ID.

Red Robin on Wednesday, November 11, 2014 to get a free Red’s Tavern Double burger and Bottomless Steak Fries. Be sure to bring your military ID to take advantage of this Veterans Day freebie. Not all locations are participating, so it’s best to call ahead to make sure your local Red Robin will be offering this free meal.

Outback Steakhouse is offering a free bloomin onion and beverage on November 11, 2015. This offer is for veterans as well as active duty and retired military as long as proof of service is shown, like wearing a uniform or showing military ID. Outback Steakhouse is also giving out a military discount of 15% off the total check November 12 to December 31, 2015.
Starbucks is offering a free tall coffee to veterans, active duty military and their spouses on Veterans Day. Please call ahead to make sure the location is participating.

  • Free Haircuts at Great Clips – Veterans and active/inactive/retired military members can stop into Great Clips on Wednesday, November 11 and get a free haircut or pickup a free haircut card to use before the end of the year. Anyone can stop in to get their haircut and receive a free haircut card that they can give to a veteran.
  • Free Admission to World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta – Members of the Armed Forces (active duty and veterans) get free admission to the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta when they show their valid Armed Forces ID card. Through November 15, half-price tickets can also be purchased for friends and family.
  • Lowe’s, Publix and Home Depot are offering 10% discounts on Veterans Day for military.
  • Dollar General is offering a 11% discount on November 11, 2015.
  • National Parks Free Veterans Day Admission – Everybody gets free entrance to our National Parks on Veterans Day. Date this year: November 11, 2015.

VETERANS BBQ on Saturday, November 8 at 11:30 am at the Cumming National Guard Readiness Center. All Vets and their families will be treated by Ingram Funeral Home, to a free BBQ lunch catered by Jim and Nicks. Guest speakers will be: SFC RET. Army Ranger Michael Schlitz (Purple Heart Recipient) Command SGTMAJ. Roy Marchert, Congressman Rob Woodall, and Congressman Doug Collins. Located at: 100 Aquatic Circle, Cumming, GA.

The Veterans Day and Marine Corps birthday celebration from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm on Monday, November 10, 2014 in the football stadium at North Forsyth High School, 3635 Coal Mountain Road. It is free and open to the public.

New Military Families Site for Forsyth County Families

IMG_2523Forsyth County Military Families is a new website for Military, Veterans and their families. Local, state and national military discounts and freebies will be posted on the site. Events, job fairs and more will be shared for the community.

They have a page for Forsyth County Military Discounts and one for National Military Discounts.

Businesses or organizations offering military discounts can be listed for free by contacting fcmilfam@gmail.com.
