10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make a personalized frame and customized slime! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Storytime – Fancy Nancy returns in a story about felines, canines, and making new four-legged friends! Nancy’s new kitten meets her posh pup, Frenchy. Will her two pets ever get along? Will Nancy be able to love them both the same? Find out at Storytime, with activities to follow.

11:00 am – Join us as Still Pointe Dance Studios presents Coppelia – a comedic classical ballet the whole family will love! The Saturday, 11am show will feature a pre-show Coppelia Tea – a special event for little girls and their dolls beginning at 10:30!

11:15 am – Post Road Library Saturday Family Storytime at Post

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm – VFW Post 9143 Bingo Night – Post 9143 Hosts BINGO Every Saturday (Except for certain holidays). First call is promptly at 7 pm. No Smoking in the Building! You will be dazzled by a Christmas tree that grows larger than life, a lively battle between soldiers and mice, snow that falls and much more. Sawnee Ballet Theatre’s production of this enchanting full-length ballet brings the magical characters in Clara’s dream to life.

Each year, Artistic Director Joan Kall Stewart brings something new to the performance, and this year is no exception!

The Nutcracker will be performed at South Forsyth High School auditorium and performance dates are Thursday, December 17th through Sunday, December 20th.  Tickets for adults are $20 and admission for kids 12 and under is $15.00. For more information call (770) 887-0756.

Friday, January 17

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library Preschool Pals story time for ages 3 – 5. These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader.

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Gerda and the Snow Queen Ballet. Still Pointe Studios presents a charming adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s Gerda and the Snow Queen. The whole family will enjoy this winter-wonderland story told through ballet. Join a journey of unconditional love, adventure and restoration, featuring classical compositions by Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Sibelius and more. Performances are at North Forsyth High School’s auditorium Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 and are available online or at the door for $12.

11:15 am – 1:15 pm – Post Road Library Saturday Family Story Time. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is for children aged 4-8 but bring the whole family!

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Saturday Scavengers Story Time at Cumming Library. This 30 minute storytime includes books, music, and activities. It is designed for ages 4 – 8, but the whole family is welcome to attend.

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Family Chinese New Year’s Celebration at the Post Road Library. Post Road is welcoming 2014, The Year of the Horse, in style. Our Chinese New Year Celebration will kick off with a traditional Lion Dance performed by Atlanta’s Chien Hong School of Kung Fu. This is not to be missed! Then, stay and celebrate with crafts, food and music. This event is for all ages. No registration is required.

ALL WEEKEND

Lakewood 400 Antiques Market – Happy 10th Anniversary! Celebrate their decade of flea market goodness and see what hidden treasures you can find at the market. At a Christmas party hosted by the Silverhaus family, Clara receives a nutcracker in the shape of a toy soldier from Herr Drosselmeyer. After the party, Clara has an incredible dream where magical things happen! A battle rages between huge mice and the Nutcracker’s toy soldiers. When Clara saves the Nutcracker’s life, an evil spell is broken, and he turns into a handsome Prince. Clara and the Prince journey to the Land of Sweets where dancers from around the world perform for Clara to honor her for her bravery.
