This year, Imagination’s Destination also features special promotions to encourage young readers to explore their imaginations all summer long. 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Forsyth County Senior Services is hosting a concert to benefit high needs clients in the Meals on Wheels program. The Air National Guard “Band of the South” will perform at the Sexton Hall Enrichment Center. Sexton Hall Enrichment Center is located at 2115 Chloe Road, just off of Sharon Road between Peachtree Parkway and Old Atlanta Road. Race on over for some wheel to wheel action!  Admission is always free and concessions are available.

Veterans Day!

Reaping Nature’s next community recycling event will take place at The Ice at 1345 Atlanta Highway in Cumming, on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Event items being accepted for recycling and reuse:
  • New & gently used coats and blankets (Meals by Grace);
  • Clean & empty laundry detergent bottles, egg cartons, and “Tupperware” like containers, with sealable lids (ex. cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream) (Meals by Grace);
  • Household items & clothing (Family Haven);
  • Cellphones (Feed the Hungry Forsyth);
  • New and gently used shoes (ShoeBox Recycling);
  • Electronics (TVs $15 to recycle, secure hard drive shredding provided) (Premier Surplus);
  • Loose change (benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta).

10:00 am – Lowe’s Build & Grow – Ghoul Bus – Halloween is right around the corner! Get in the spirit with this spooktacular Ghoul Bus!

10:00 am – 5:00 pm – Purple Palooza – Home Depot Parking Lot – Harvest & Health festival. Fun activities for all ages, including moonwalks, 22′ slide, obstacle course, pony rides, face painting, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT & FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS. Central High School Trash Cans performances! Awesome cake walks! Local business vendors, Auction, food provided by Chick-fil-A, JIM ‘N NICK’S BAR-B-Q, Lenny’s Sub Shop. Proceeds to benefit BE THE MATCH FOUNDATION. Hosted by MEDICA FORSYTH IMAGING CENTER.

12:00 pm – 6:00 pm – 2nd annual Pumpkin Palooza at Warbington Farms – “Hey” rides, pony rides, face painting, slides, petting zoo, live music and so much more! Start or keep your pumpkin tradition with us!
10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Bethelview UMC Scarecrow Festival. Food & entertainment for the whole family. Kids zone, pet world, contests, vendors, crafts, music and more. Free parking with a canned good item. Win prizes! Build a scarecrow, fresh baked cobbler, doggy fashion and talent shows. Show times: 1:00 pm fashion show, 2:30 pm talent show. Free child ID program through GACHIP.
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm – Little Mill Middle School Chili Cookoff and Fall Festival – Come to Little Mill Middle School for a day of chili tasting, fun, games, and activities for the entire family!
7:00 pm – Barnes & Noble – Harry Potter Halloween Party – Calling all Harry Potter fans! Join us for our Harry Potter Halloween Party. Come dressed in your best Harry Potter themed costume. Will have lots of great games, prizes and much more!

Sunday, October 14

12:30 – 9 pm – Cumming Country Fair & Festival – Students 18 & under admitted FREE & RIDE FREE w/ school coupon from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm. Last day! American Bullriders Tour 6:00 pm.

Octoberfest at the Gasthaus! Open All Sundays in October!! From 2pm to 5PM for a “German Picnic” Bratwurst, Knockwurst, German Potato Salad, Spatzel, Pretzels and the like. From 5pm to 9pm our regular dinner menu. Also Sunday Entertainment by Sherri and Larry a great duet that plays traditional German Music.

NEARBY EVENTS

Hillcrest Orchards – Apple Pickin’ Jubilee begins September 8! Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. 8 – Oct.) Admission is $6.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. Apple varieties: Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Pinata, Ambrosia, Gala & Honey Crisp with more coming in. Pig races are at 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm each day of the festival.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – 5 Burt’s Farm Rd Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The hayrides will be weekends only until October then the hayrides will be 7 days a week. Hayride cost: Adults $5.00, Kids 12 & under $4.00, infants 12 months and under free.

APPLE ORCHARDS/CORN MAZES/FARM FUN

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm and Kinsey Family Farm are also fun-filled places to visit.
