Nutcracker Auditions

Sawnee Ballet Theatre is holding open auditions for its 26th annual production of the Nutcracker on Saturday, August 26 at Sawnee School of Ballet. All dancers age 2nd grade and up with at least one year of dance experience are welcome to audition. Roles being cast include: party children, maids, mice, soldiers, fairies,angels, lambs, and more!

10:00 am – 11:00 am: 2nd to 4th grade dancers
11:30 am – 12:30 pm: 5th to 6th grade dancers

8:00 am – Memorial Day Run/Walk for Autism. Shiloh Point Elementary, 8145 Majors Rd, Cumming, GA. There will be a 5k, 10k and a Fun Run! This Memorial Day race supports TACA (TALK ABOUT CURING AUTISM). TACA’s goal is to provide education, support, and information to parents to help their children diagnosed with autism be the very best they can be, with the hope of recovery. *The 5k race is the 2nd event in the North GA Running Co. Pick strawberries at Warbington Farms! The 2017 strawberry season is in full swing!  Strawberry season usually runs till second week of June. Price is $14 (plus tax) for U-Pick and $16 (plus tax) for Pre-Picked. We provide the buckets and do not allow outside containers in the field. Please keep in mind that we do close the field for inclement weather. Berry picking is based on availability and we close the fields once the berries are picked out for the day.

The City of Alpharetta and Splash Festivals are excited to present the 13th Annual Alpharetta Arts Streetfest on Memorial Day weekend- May 27, 28 and 29, 2017.  This 3 day event will host more than 90 colorful artisans from around the country will showcase their works in the Alpharetta Historic District.  This much anticipated festival will feature live music, cultural arts performances, entertaining children’s activities, and a variety festival cuisine.

10:00 AM – Hampton Park Library – Busy Builders. Let’s build something together! Playing with LEGO and other building blocks can help develop your child’s cognitive learning and social skills! Every Friday morning we will set out a collection of kid-friendly building blocks for an engaging and educational drop-in playtime. You bring your creativity, we’ll provide the rest! The program is designed for children ages 2-5 accompanied by a caregiver and is approximately 45 minutes long. It includes stories, music, activities, and play time with Duplo Legos all related to a creative theme.

11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Hay Day at Save the Horses. Our annual Hay Day takes place on the farm @ SavetheHorses every October, and proceeds are used to purchase hay for the animals to eat during the coming winter.  There will be great activities for kids of all ages (including the adult variety) such as hay rides, horse rides, face painting, crafts, chili cook off, a cake walk, petting zoo, and stables where you could visit and get to know some of the beautiful horses who live on the farm.   All proceeds go to savethehorses.org. Gold Rush Days in downtown Dahlonega gives you the opportunity to pan for gold, taste food Southern food and hear music from bluegrass, country, gospel and contemporary musicians. The 61st annual event will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 located at 13 S. The Harvest Balloon Festival is in Flowery Branch from 1-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. The sixth annual festival will feature autumn traditions along with new activities for a $1. All ages may participate in hayrides showcasing the changing leaves, and tethered balloon rides overlooking the festival grounds below with the weather permitting. Tethered rides will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 8-9:30 a.m. Oct. 18. Secret Santa Car Show in Oakwood. Originally slated for Oct. 10, the show was postponed until this weekend. Pumpkin Palooza at Warbington Farms starts Saturday September 28th. Hope everyone can join us for a hayride, fun in the Farm park, visit the petting zoo, pick the pumpkin for the front porch. Hillcrest Orchards also debuts their apple pickin’ jubilee on September 7, 2013 and it runs every weekend through October. This is the only time that you can pick your own apples at this orchard. Pick your fun at the annual “Apple Pickin’ Jubilee” where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow, watch live pig races, walk a nature trail, visit the petting farm ($3.00 per person), take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. – Oct.) 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov.) There is also a haunted barn opening Oct. 4 – Nov. 2 for older folks. Open weekends from August 30 through November 17th. Hours are as follows:
