9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Electronics Recycling Event – Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) invites residents to recycle their unused paint and old electronics during the upcoming paint and electronics recycling event, held every fall and spring. This fall’s recycling event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumming Fairgrounds’ parking lot 3 off of Castleberry Road.

9:00 am – 3:00 pm – First Baptist Cumming Fall Bazaar. Unique Christmas and gift items, artwork, antiques. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. $1.00 admission. Bake sale.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop – Build a Veterans Day Toy Helicopter. Join our hands-on workshop in honor of Veterans Day, and you and your child can build a toy helicopter with turning blades! Once the toy helicopter is built, your child can decorate it with paint & stickers to create a mini-military vehicle.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels KIDS CLUB: Make a yarn hot cocoa mug! Ages 3 and up are welcome to this event. See a store associate for details today. $2.00. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Abba House Fall Fest – Abba House will host an entirely free Fall Festival to give back for all of the support that they have received through their 16 years in the North Georgia community. It is a chance for you to enjoy lunch, music, carnival games, snacks, and activities for children and adults all while bringing awareness of the ministry that Abba House does and to their 25,000 square foot 400 North Thrift Store location. It is also a chance to raise funds for the women and children of Abba House. This is our fourth year hosting this event, and we can tell you, it is not your average fall festival. You will not be disappointed! All you have to do to participate is gather up your family and show up for a day of free fun. Abba House’s 400 North Thrift Store is located just over three miles north of the outlet mall on GA-400 and GA-136. We can’t wait to see you all!

Visitors can vote (with their dollars) for the most original, and funniest beds. At 10:00 AM the actual races will begin and the skill and speed of the participants will determine the fastest entries. The money raised by each team will determine coveted Merit Award for Fundraising. Between the races and the judging of beds, visitors are encouraged to visit the various booths and help individual groups raise money. Those booths will also be eligible for prizes based on originality and fundraising achievements.

Admission: 13 and up $5.00, kids 12 and under are free.

This program is suggested for children, ages 3-5, with a caregiver. Advance registration is not required for this program.

fallfestivalIt’s hard to believe that it’s already November this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour on Saturday night! It will be nice to have that extra hour after Halloween activities! Here is a roundup of things to do this weekend.

Friday, October 31

11:00 am – Cumming Library – Trick or Treat story time and costume parade! Dress up in your costume and join us at the library for a special storytime featuring holiday books, music, and activities.  After storytime, children will be able to show off their costumes in the library and “trick or treat” with library staff. Please bring a bag for your candy. Registration is not required.

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library – Preschool Pals Story time – Trick or treat story time and Halloween parade! These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader. This program is suggested for children, ages 3-5, with a caregiver. Advance registration is not required for this program.

October 31 – Kids eat free in costume on Halloween at Beef O’Bradys in Cumming, GA! One free kids meal per adult meal purchase. Costa Vida also has a kids in costume eat free on Halloween special. Pizzeria Azzuri also welcomes trick or treaters!

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Publix at Hammond Crossing – trick or treat at Publix! Get a coloring sheet and candy too!

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Trunk or Treat Forsyth at Highlands Church. 43 Canton Highway, Cumming, GA. Highlands Church has partnered with Forsyth County! Hayrides, inflatables, hot dogs, giveaways, trunk or treat. Get autographs from your favorite Disney Princesses and Superheroes!

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Christ Community Church fall festival. Candy, games, food, face painting, camel rides & more! Food available for purchase.

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – First Redeemer Church – Fall family fun festival. Annual Fall Family Fun Festival with games and activities for children of all ages. 9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Recycle Electronics – Cumming Fairgrounds Parking Lot 3 off of Castleberry Road. Keep Forsyth County Beautiful invites residents to make a positive impact on the environment by recycling their old, unused electronics during the upcoming electronics recycling event. Accepted items for recycling include laptops, stereos, CD players, cell phones, microwaves, cameras and more. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5 while an additional $20 fee will apply for each television. Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. Hayes Haunt, 7435 Cavaletti Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. Friday and Saturday nights, including Oct. 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31, and an encore Nov. 1 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person (proceeds go to The Place of Forsyth.) For sensitive guests, “a protective amulet may be purchased and worn to ward off the monsters for a ‘Hayes Haunt Light’ experience,” according to hayeshaunt.com. Allow 15 to 20 minutes to walk through the haunt.

Admission: 13 and up $5.00, kids 12 and under are free.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Farmers Market at Vickery Village – The last full market of the season! Come stock up for the weekend on farm fresh produce, local meats, poultry, and eggs as well as local artisan products such as bread, cheese, jellies, probiotic drinks, soaps and more. Also, order fresh wild caught seafood for delivery at the market from Tom’s Awesome Seafood. Circle A has all their greens including Kale and Basil, fresh live lobster, fresh shrimp, gazaways farm amazing sausage and grass-fed beef, also The Flour Artisan’s amazing baked goods! 11:30 am – 3:00 pm – The NFHS Raider Band hosts its 6th Annual “Taste of Christmas” on November 9th at North Forsyth High School from 11:30 – 3:00.  The event will feature restaurant tastings, crafters/vendors, a silent auction, musical performances by NFHS band students, and pictures with Santa Claus.  Tickets for the event are $10 each and can be purchased prior to the event from any NFHS band student as well as at the door on the day of the event.  Your ticket includes ten tastes from the participating restaurants.  All proceeds benefit the NFHS band program. 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm – North Lanier Baptist Taste of Christmas. Many area restaurants will serve samples of their food, a silent auction will feature unique items, professional services, gift certificates and more. Local crafters will have items for purchase that will make wonderful Christmas gifts! Tickets are only $8.00 per person.  Includes free photo with Santa.  Proceeds support the North Forsyth Raider Marching Band.

6:00 pm – 8:00 pm –  Good Shepherd Catholic Church’s seventh annual chili cook-off. All you can eat for $5, or enter a pot for $5 and eat for free.
