iRun BYOT – Forsyth County Schools and the Forsyth BYOT Benefit are partnering to hold the second annual iRun, a 5K race and Fun Run.  The run will take place on October 7 at Shiloh Point Elementary with the 5K starting at 8:00 am and the Fun Run at 9:00 am.  The funds raised from this event will help to provide home internet access and computing devices for students throughout our district.  There is a competition among schools to see which has the most participation.  Register or donate to help our school win!

11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Hay Day at Save the Horses – Our annual Hay Day takes place on the farm @ Save the Horses every October, and proceeds are used to purchase hay for the animals to eat during the coming winter. There will be great activities for kids of all ages (including the adult variety) such as hay rides, horse rides, a cake walk, petting zoo, and stables where you could visit and get to know some of the beautiful horses who live on the farm.   All proceeds go to savethehorses.org. Free parking and admission.​

Once the project is complete, your child can personalize their truck with stickers and paint. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.

4:00 pm – Carnival & Movie Night – Fowler Park – United Football Academy – Fowler Park soccer fields (same entrance as the rec center) 4110 Carolene Way, Cumming, GA 30040. There will be several inflatables including an Obstacle Course, Water Slide and Slip & Slide, a Dunk Tank with some of our favorite coaches waiting to get wet, a large fun Spinning Ride, a Rock Wall and Giant Slide along with plenty of others suitable for all ages! We will also have a DJ, Face Painting, Crazy Hair, Carnival Games, Tattoos, Pixie Stick Fun, a Candy Walk, and lots more!  Skillz, our awesome Mascot (and maybe even some surprise mascot friends of his), Food Trucks and more. At dusk (around 9PM) we will wrap up the inflatable fun and start our movie on a large inflatable movie screen. 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Boo Bash Trick or Treating at North Georgia Outlets. Join the spooktacular fun at the 2nd Annual BOO BASH & Trick-or-Treating event on Saturday, October 29th from 4pm- 7pm. DJ Crazy Mike will be playing the tunes in the Gazebo along with the FREE Halloween Photo Booth, games and treats for kids 12 and under. Pick up a list of participating Trick-or-Treat stores at Guest Services. Please note anyone over the age of 18 may not wear a Halloween mask on property.

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Forsyth County Trunk or Treat Safety Event – Cumming Fairgrounds. Bring the whole family and have fun while learning how to stay safe this Halloween during the seventh annual Trunk or Treat Safety Event. The family-friendly event will be held at the Cumming Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is one family-sized bag of candy per family.Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to Trunk or Treat, which will feature a variety of fun activities and games. There will also be information on costume safety, pedestrian safety, stranger danger, stop-drop-roll demonstrations and more.

The 49th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, GA – October 21 – 23, 2016

8:00 AM – Fairy Tale Dash 5K/1 Mile for Jesse’s House Foster Home. Once upon a time there lived princesses that needed rescuing. These princesses all had one thing in common: their lives weren’t quite at the happily ever after chapter yet. They had endured dragons, evil queens, and so much more. They came to the kingdom for safety and protection. On October 15, 2016, come dressed up to run or walk in support of these princesses. Fairy Tale Dash for Jesse’s House offers a certified 5K course starting at Fowler Park continuing onto the beautiful Forsyth Big Creek Greenway and finishing coming back into the park. The 5k begins at 8am and is a flat, fast course. This race will be a 2017 Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Packet Pick Up is at Academy Sports in The Collections on Friday, October 14, 2016 1:30pm – 7:30pm. Packet pick up will also be available race day at the Large Pavilion at Fowler Park starting at 7:00am. Registration is now open.

Gold Rush Days in downtown Dahlonega gives you the opportunity to pan for gold, taste food Southern food and hear music from bluegrass, country, gospel and contemporary musicians. The 62nd annual event will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 15 and 16 located at 13 S.
