Our annual Spring EGG-Stravaganza  takes place on the farm @ SavetheHorses every spring.  Proceeds from the event are used to help support the animals at the rescue. There will be great activities for kids of all ages  such as hay rides, Easter egg hunts,  pony rides, a cake walk, petting zoo, and stables where you can visit and get to know some of the beautiful animals who live on the farm.   All proceeds go to savethehorses.org. 8:00 am – Pi Day 5K Race benefitting special needs classrooms of Forsyth County, GA. North GA Running Co. Join teachers, students and families for the 2nd Annual Pi Day Race. The Pi Day Race provides the perfect opportunity to build excitement around mathematics and science education!  Pi Day, 3.12.16, is a fun celebration used by educators to draw attention to the important mathematical number pi. Pi, a transcendental number, is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to the diameter. Pi Day Race has an innovative twist! While many 5K runs are 3.1 miles, the Pi Day 5-K will be a 3.14 mile run/walk. We are encouraging schools, universities, businesses, and families to come out to run/walk together to support and foster excitement about mathematics and science education. A portion of race proceeds will be used to buy equipment for special needs classrooms in Forsyth County.

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Humane Society Thrift StoreHSFC Baby Shower – The Humane Society is expecting lots of new puppies and kittens- and they need your help. To prepare for this busy season, they will be holding their second annual HSFC Baby Shower on March 13 from 1-5 p.m. at their thrift store, located at 168 Tri-County Plaza in Cumming. This fun family event will include refreshments, door prizes, a raffle and more. Items on their “gift registry” include dry puppy food, puppy pads, dry and canned kitten food, cat litter and kitten and puppy milk replacer. Cash donations are also always gratefully accepted. Donations of items will also be collected at any Rucker Pet store, at Petco in Cumming, our Thrift Store as well as at the HSFC Adoption Center, located at 4440 Keith Bridge Road in Cumming.

Octoberfest! The Alpine Village of Helen is celebrating its European roots this month with nightly Oktoberfest activities. Activities will be from 6-10:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 1 p.m. to midnight. Saturdays and 1-7 p.m. Sundays at 1074 Edelweiss Strasse. Mountain Moonshine Festival – The 48th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival and Car Show is in Dawsonville, GA this weekend. All proceeds support KARE for Kids, Inc., a non-profit organization in Dawson County. This event includes arts, crafts, food, music and activities for the entire family. The festival will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in downtown Dawsonville.

Mutts and More Fall Festival at Warbington Farms on October 24 and October 25, 2015

mutts and more festival in cumming, gaThe Annual Mutts & More Festival is this weekend on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at Warbington Farms, 5555 Crow Road, Cumming, GA 30041.

It will benefit the wonderful Humane Society of Forsyth County, GA, a no-kill shelter!

The Mutts & More Festival is a 2-day event full of games and activities for everyone.  The Activities page has all the events that will be going on during the 2-day event.  The Info page has all the information on ticket prices and requirements for bringing your animal to the festival.

  • Under 2 years of age = FREE
* Donation covers all rides, activities and events.  Food and merchandise purchases are separate.

Planning on bringing your pet?  EVEN BETTER!  It is all about them after all.   For safety of other patrons (and other animals), you must:

  • Print and fill out the following waiver form.  Please bring it with you the day you attend the event.
  • Ensure your animals is altered and vaccinated
  • Must be on a leash at all times (no retractable leashes)
  • Sign your animal in at admissions

No animal will be allowed in to the festival without these steps being completed.

1:00 pm – Cumming Library – Winged Ambassadors Birds of Prey – Meet hawks, owls, and falcons in this outside show where you’ll see the birds’ flying techniques.  Learn educational facts and interesting details about each bird, including learning about their unique personalities! All ages welcome and registration is not required. Note:  Weather permitting, this show will be held outdoors.

7:00 pm – Barnes and Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Get Pop-Cultured: Fangirl Friday. Fangirls unite and celebrate fandom! 9:00 am – Terrariums and Fairy Gardens – Pike Nurseries, Cumming, GA – Beat the heat, and plant a miniature garden to enjoy indoors. During this free class, our experts will teach you the basics of terrariums and fairy gardens and show you how to plant a tiny greenhouse for your home.

9:00 am – 4:00 pm – CORE Missions Summer Bazaar – Come join us at our first annual Summer Bazaar. We will have will have a variety of vendors selling different items from make up to jewelry. Proceeds from this special event go to fund SNAP, our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program founded in 2009. Available to low income pet owners, we offer spay/neuter surgery vouchers redeemable at participating local veterinarians.

8:00 am – H20 5k and Fun Run – North Forsyth Middle School  3845 Coal Mountain Dr Cumming, GA 30040. Simple Charity, a club run by NFHS students that has raised $36,000 for charity this school year, is hosting a 5k and one mile fun run for kids at NFHS to benefit Just One Africa and give clean water to people in Kenya! The event is on March 28th, but you have to register by March 20th to get a t-shirt. Sign in at 7:15, race begins at 8:00 am. Fun Run will begin at 9:00 am. Parking will be outside of the Performing Arts Center at North Forsyth High School.

9:00 am – 6:00 pm – Open House at Miracle Pottery. KIDS PAINT FREE DAY BEGINS AT 9:00 AM. Kids will be able to choose one FREE pottery item to paint and decorate. Allow your little one to use their creativity and get artsy! Drinks, coffee, and snack will be served! ADULT RAKU PARTY BEGINS AT 7:30 PM. 3/25 – 3/29 NFHS Drama Department presents The Wizard of Oz! North Forsyth Drama Department presents The Wizard of Oz!!! Wednesday, March 25th (7pm), Thursday, March 26th (7pm), Friday, March 27th (7pm), Saturday, March 28th (matinee at 3pm, evening 7pm), and Sunday, March 29th matinee at 2pm. South Forsyth Middle School Drama will feature Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man” from March 25 to 28. Shows on March 25 to 27 will begin at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. on March 28. Family Haven Thrift Store is located at 598 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Cumming, GA 30040. Forsyth County Family Haven’s Thrift Store serves two very unique and vital functions for our organization. Victims of violence and their families are offered vouchers to shop in our store and obtain the items that they need free of charge. The vouchers enable individuals to select clothing for themselves and for their children, household items such as coffemakers and dishes, and furniture items like couches and chairs to assist them as they move into their self-supportive housing. Secondly, our thrift store is open to the public after our clients have selected the items that they need. The funds that are obtained from sales to the public go into the operating fund for Forsyth County Family Haven, Inc. Hours are 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Mondays through Fridays and 10:00 AM-5:00 PM Saturdays. Donations welcome.

No Longer Bound Thrift Store is located at 315 Dahlonega Hwy in downtown Cumming, Ga.  We offer an upscale retail environment offering a wide variety of affordably priced inventory for your shopping pleasure. No Longer Bound Resale is a non-profit industry of the men’s regeneration program, No Longer Bound. Bargain Boutique is Whispering Hope’s upscale resale shop in Cumming, Ga. The Boutique is open to the public as a thrift store with something for everyone. Inside the store you will also find what we call the Mommy Store which is where clients of Whispering Hope can spend their Mommy Money and Daddy Dollars that they earn by attending classes offered by the center. We also offer fantastic bargain shopping to the public with all proceeds supporting the ministry of Whispering Hope.

The non-profit store operates through donations by the public. The Bargain Boutique is run by a manager and volunteers from churches and the community.
