iRun BYOT – Forsyth County Schools and the Forsyth BYOT Benefit are partnering to hold the second annual iRun, a 5K race and Fun Run.  The run will take place on October 7 at Shiloh Point Elementary with the 5K starting at 8:00 am and the Fun Run at 9:00 am.  The funds raised from this event will help to provide home internet access and computing devices for students throughout our district.  There is a competition among schools to see which has the most participation.  Register or donate to help our school win!

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make a Sprout character canvas! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Hay Day at Save the Horses – Our annual Hay Day takes place on the farm @ Save the Horses every October, and proceeds are used to purchase hay for the animals to eat during the coming winter. There will be great activities for kids of all ages (including the adult variety) such as hay rides, horse rides, a cake walk, petting zoo, and stables where you could visit and get to know some of the beautiful horses who live on the farm.   All proceeds go to savethehorses.org. Free parking and admission.​

11:15 AM – Post Road Library 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Froggy Celebration. Join us for stories, songs, and a puppet show while we learn together about the benefits of reading to your child! We’ll also learn about the statewide initiative, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, which will help your child be reading-ready before starting school. We’ll recognize the achievements of children already participating in 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, too! And to top things off, we’ll have crafts and a visit from our special guest, Froggy, from the popular book series by Jonathan London!   No registration required. This program is for children 0-5 years old. Space is limited. Arrive early to secure your spot.

Nutcracker Auditions

Sawnee Ballet Theatre is holding open auditions for its 26th annual production of the Nutcracker on Saturday, August 26 at Sawnee School of Ballet. All dancers age 2nd grade and up with at least one year of dance experience are welcome to audition. Roles being cast include: party children, maids, mice, soldiers, fairies,angels, lambs, and more!

10:00 am – 11:00 am: 2nd to 4th grade dancers
11:30 am – 12:30 pm: 5th to 6th grade dancers
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: 7th grade and up

Audition Fee: $15

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to audition time to register.

Audition Dress Code:
Girls: solid colored leotard (if an SSB student, please wear assigned class color), pink tights & ballet shoes with hair pulled back in neat bun, NO jewelry

Please visit their Facebook page to get more information about locally produced vegetables, meat, baked goods, honey, soaps, flowers, art, woodworking and so much more! Open Saturdays and Wednesdays during the summer season.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Kid Care Expo – Lanier Technical College – Join us for the Kid Care Expo where you can meet and greet healthcare providers and other child specific community resources face to face. This event is perfect for picking a pediatrician, dentist, or pediatric specialist for your child.

10:00 am – 7:00 pm – Old Atlanta Spray Pad opens for the season at Old Atlanta Park, 810 Nichols Road until September 4. Daily admission for the spray pad is $2 per person for 1-year-olds and up. Only cash or check is accepted. Adults entering with a paying child are free if they remain on the dry deck. Annual individual passes are available for $30, and annual family passes are available for $60.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Nothing Rhymes with Orange Story time – We all know nothing rhymes with orange, but how does that make Orange feel? Left out, of course! But when Apple notices how Orange is feeling, the entire English language begins to become a bit more inclusive. Activities to follow.

4:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Lambert Farmers Market. The farmers market will operate this season from May 27th to October 28th. We are excited to bring a variety of products from an array of vendors to this community! We hope that the Lambert Farmers Market will strengthen the bond between the locals in the area while increasing awareness of where their food comes from. 10:00 am – 8th Annual Dutch Monkey Doughnuts Independence Day Doughnut Eating Competition. Contest starts at 11:00 am Free event, raising money for cancer research so bring $ for food and drinks.

10:00 am – 10:00 pm – Sparks in the Motorsports Park – Dawsonville, GA. Festivities : food vendors, crafts, music, activities for the family. Fireworks at 9pm. Tentative schedule: 10:00am AMP Karting is open, 3:30pm AMP general parking, 6-9:30pm Festivities: 7:30 parachuters/fly in, 9:00 Fireworks, 10:00 Exit and closure of AMP.
