No School & Fun Friday at Warbington Farms – No school means more fun at the farm! We will have all our activities going with a special gift to the parents….HALF OFF ADULT Admission 12pm-4pm 10/20/17!  *****PLUS***** between 12pm and 4pm kids (and adults) will be able to watch us plant our strawberries and even participate in the planting!  Regular admission is $12 and includes the hayride, petting zoo, corn maze, and Fun Park. ***DISCOUNTED ADULT Admission valid only during 12pm-4pm but farm is open 10am-10pm. Octoberfest! The Alpine Village of Helen is celebrating its European roots this month with nightly Oktoberfest activities. Activities will be from 6-10:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 1 p.m. to midnight. Saturdays and 1-7 p.m. Sundays at 1074 Edelweiss Strasse. Mountain Moonshine Festival – The 48th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival and Car Show is in Dawsonville, GA this weekend. All proceeds support KARE for Kids, Inc., a non-profit organization in Dawson County. This event includes arts, crafts, food, music and activities for the entire family. The festival will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in downtown Dawsonville.

Gold Rush Days in downtown Dahlonega gives you the opportunity to pan for gold, taste food Southern food and hear music from bluegrass, country, gospel and contemporary musicians. The 61st annual event will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 located at 13 S. The Harvest Balloon Festival is in Flowery Branch from 1-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. The sixth annual festival will feature autumn traditions along with new activities for a $1. All ages may participate in hayrides showcasing the changing leaves, and tethered balloon rides overlooking the festival grounds below with the weather permitting. Tethered rides will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 8-9:30 a.m. Oct. 18. Floating River Parade and Fireworks Show for City of Helen, GA Centennial

Stay for festivities and a fireworks show at 9:00 pm. It is one of our favorite towns to visit.
The tasty food, drinks and festivities are fun for all ages! College football games will be shown at area restaurants as well.
Make it a day trip, go camping or stay for a weekend adventure. There are plenty of places to stay and lots of things to do in the area.

11:00 am – Quarter Midget Racing – Cumming Fairgrounds -The North Georgia Quarter Midget Association welcomes you and your family to come out and watch the races. Admission is free; we have concessions and plenty of excitement for the whole family. Quarter Midget Racing is a family oriented sport for children ages 5 to 16. Children race in Quarter Midget cars that are a scaled-down (approximately 1/4 scale) version of an actual midget-racecar on oval tracks that are approximately 1/20th of a mile.

Friday, October 19

3:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Cumming Greek Festival– Saints Raphael Nicholas Irene Greek Orthodox Church, 3074 Bethelview Road, Cumming, GA 30040. Each year in October, an entertaining Greek village appears on the 15 acre property of Sts. Raphael, Nicholas and Irene off Bethelview Road in South Forsyth County. The scent and sounds of authentic Greek food and music will fill the air, creating a festive atmosphere. The event offers visitors a unique opportunity to share in the rich history of the Greek culture and it’s beautiful traditions. Period costumed Hellenic Dancers will perform various traditional Greek dances throughout the day and night of the two day event. Curious shops with art, jewelry, and other Aegean items will compliment the culinary offerings and entertainment. Traditional village cuisine will be served at the Greek restaurant, or Taverna. Wonderful Souvlaki (soov-ly-kee), Pastitsio (past-eet-sio), Gyros (ye-rrr-ohs) and other authentic food is also on the full menu. At another shop in the village, delicious, better than donuts, Loukoumades (loo-koo-mah-dez) will be cooked in front of you, then hand dipped in honey. Festival pastries, including Baklava (honey, clarified butter, puffed pastry layers) and much more will be explained and available in one of the many outdoor shops. A very fun kids play area will also be in the park-like setting plus traditional Greek coffee and liqueurs may be found at the Kafenion (cafe-neon).

Dahlonega Gold Rush Days– Gold Rush Days are held the third weekend in October (the 20th and 21st for 2012), when thousands come to see fall colors peaking and celebrate Dahlonega’s 1828 discovery of gold. Over 300 art and craft exhibitors gather around the Public Square and Historic District in support of this annual event, and it is estimated that a crowd of over 200,000 visit over the weekend to join in the fun and excitement! It has been voted one of the Top 20 Events in the southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society. Included in the two day event are a parade, children’s activities, a fashion show, gold panning contest, wheelbarrow race, King and Queen Coronation, hog calling, buck dancing contest, gospel singing and other live entertainment, wrist wrestling, and last but not least – some delicious food!
