Friday, November 14

11:15 am – 11:45 am – Hampton Park Library – Preschool Pals Story time – These 30 minute programs are designed to promote language, listening, and pre-reading skills by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities.  Hear stories, sing songs, and develop the skills needed to become a successful reader. This program is suggested for children, ages 3-5, with a caregiver. Advance registration is not required for this program.

Saturday, November 15

Five Points Challenge 5K – Benefitting childhood cancer & environmental awareness brought to you by Reaping Nature and Friends of Tony – Windermere Golf Club, Cumming, GA. See website for parking information.

11/14/2014 – Race packet pickup and late registration at Windermere Golf Club, 5000 Davis Love, Drive, Cumming, GA (5pm to 8pm).
6:30am – Race day packet pickup and late registration
7:15am – 5K registration closes
8:00am – 5K Start  (Arrive early to allow time for parking!)*
9:30am – Awards Ceremony

8:30 am – 2:00 pm Cumming First United Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar – Brunch and Lunch, Eat, Shop and Enjoy! Handmade crafts, decorations, baked goods.

  • Breakfast with Santa (by paid reservation only – in the children’s ministry office)

10:00 am – 5:00 pm – Christmas Arts & Crafts Festival – Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Tech. Formerly Christmas in Cumming. This family-oriented community event offers photos with Santa, child-oriented activities, crafts from over 90 vendors and local entertainment.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Reindeer painted canvas. Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. The Great Thanksgiving Escape story time event. Join us November 15 for Thanksgiving Storytime featuring The Great Thanksgiving Escape. The title is a hilarious, kid-friendly take on Thanksgiving – full of family, food and lots of fun! Join us for Storytime and activities.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime. Start your weekend off right at the Post Road Library. We’ll have stories, dancing, and fun! This storytime is great for the whole family!

3:00 pm – 6:00 pm – Tree Lighting Celebration at The Collection Forsyth. Enjoy complimentary children’s activities, holiday music and welcome Santa as he lights their new 50 ft. Christmas Tree. Browse holiday gift displays provided by The Collection Forsyth retailers. The tree lighting ceremony is at 5:00 pm.

Sunday, November 16

11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Christmas Arts & Crafts Festival – Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Tech. Formerly Christmas in Cumming. This family-oriented community event offers photos with Santa, child-oriented activities, crafts from over 90 vendors and local entertainment.

2:00 pm – Hampton Park Library. “Peace Pipes and Talking Leaves: Cherokee Leaders and Lore” Celebrate Native American Heritage Month featuring storyteller Barry Stewart Mann.

Help us celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a special visit from acclaimed storyteller, Barry Stewart Mann.  Through the voices of three historical figures — Sequoyah, inventor of the Cherokee syllabary; Nancy Ward, Beloved Woman; and Dragging Canoe, brave warrior — Barry will Cherokee folklore, customs, and history. Highlights include the creation myth cycle and the tale of the Healing Lake, the challenges posed by European settlement, and details of Cherokee Stickball, the Seven Clans, and the Green Corn ceremony. It’s an engaging, entertaining, and educational portrayal of a fascinating and noble nation. All ages are welcome! No registration required.
