11:00 am – 4:00 pm – Warbington Farms Join us for our Pumpkin Palooza this Saturday (10/11) from 11am-4pm. We will have vendors, live music, crafts for the kids, & MORE! Price is $8 kids and $5 adults and includes unlimited time in our fun park (hayride, petting zoo, inflatables, corn crib, tire yard, slides, playground, and MORE).

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Star Wars Reads Day. Join us for Stars Wars Reads Day III – a fun-filled day of giveaways and activities in stores nationwide for Star Wars fans of all ages. Check your local store for event details.

2:00 pm – Post Road Library. Star Wars Reads Day. Fans of The Force will gather at the Post Road Library to celebrate the second annual FCPL Star Wars Reads Day on Sunday, October 12. Meet Star Wars characters from the 501st Legion, create Empire-approved and Jedi-certified crafts, enter the Wookiee Calling Contest, and try your hand at trivia and other stellar activities! Win books, posters, and other prizes. Crafts are ongoing all afternoon! Wear your costumes for the costume parade! No registration required to attend.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Central Park Community Yard Sale. Forsyth County Parks and Recreation invites you to visit the Central Park Recreation Center parking area for a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. Event organizers expect attendees to have the opportunity to browse the yard sale for items such as household goods, furniture, clothing, children’s toys and more. 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm – Forsyth County Senior Services Fall Concert at Sexton Hall Enrichment Center. “Autumn’s Refrain: A Fall Concert.” The concert will feature live music by the Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band. Saturday, September 27

8:00 am – 1:00 pm – Lake Lanier Shore Sweep. Help clean up our beautiful lake! There are ten different participating locations that you can choose to report to volunteer — Bald Ridge, Holiday, Aqualand, Sunrise Cove, Gainesville, and Port Royale Marinas, Lake Lanier Islands, Clarks Bridge, Gwinnett and War Hill Parks. The sites open at 8:00AM and will stay open until 1:00PM. We need volunteers by land as well as by water. Shore Sweep participants turning in a bag of trash get a t-shirt designed by a Lake Lanier-area child and selected in an annual contest. Volunteers should wear gloves and dress for muddy conditions. Lunch will be served upon return from assigned clean up site.

While you are out shopping, check out Safe Kids Forsyth’s car seat inspection event where nationally certified technicians with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Forsyth County Fire Department can help you properly install your car seat. 11th Annual Art in the Square – Gainesville, GA – September 20 – 21, 10am-5pm – Artists from all across the Southeast are set to participate in the Sept. 20-21 festival, which will feature food vendors, face painting, a drumming and dance ceremony and a kids’ art zone.

Experience more than 100 of the Southeast’s most talented professional and amateur artists. This juried art show features fine art – from oils to watercolors, and mixed media. 9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Recycle your old, unused electronics during the upcoming electronics recycling event hosted by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB). The event is this Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumming Fairgrounds’ parking lot 3 off Castleberry Road. Accepted items for recycling include laptops, stereos, CD players, cell phones, microwaves, cameras and more. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5 while an additional $20 fee will apply for each TV. Some items, such as large wooden console televisions, projector televisions, toaster ovens and refrigerators, will not be accepted during the event. 11:00 am – Barnes & Noble Story Time at The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar 45th Anniversary Celebration. A reading and color-in crown activity will follow the story. This hands-on learning coloring fun is designed for ages 4 and up.
11:00 am – North Georgia Quarter Midget Kids Racing – Cumming Fairgrounds. That is what you will find at the Bill Thomas Raceway located at the Cumming Fairgrounds, home of the North Georgia Quarter Midget Racing Association (NGQMA). Saturdays between March and November, you will find boys and girls, ages 5-16, take to the track, pedal to the metal. Race on over for some wheel to wheel action!  Admission is always free and concessions are available.

Rucker Pet, at 5456 Bethelview Road, will be hosting their Dixie Dock Dogs Jump into Summer event this weekend. If you haven’t seen this live before, you are in for a treat. We loved watching the dogs jump into the water. Beginning Friday, May 2, 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm; Saturday, May 3, 9:00am – 6:00 pm, and Sunday, May 4, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Better Moonwalks of Georgia will also be providing a combo bouncer all weekend, to entertain the kids!
