8:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Country Circus Corn Maze at Warbington Farms – Warbington Farms invites you to a “Country Circus” presented by Harmony Grove Baptist Church Youth Group! The performers have fled, the ringmaster is missing and the animals are on the loose! Wander at your own risk through this circus gone awry and be sure to watch your back for eerie entertainers hiding in dark corners of maze. Dare to enter the haunted circus? Portions of proceeds to benefit Harmony Grove Baptist Church Youth Group. Haunted Corn Maze is included in $12 admission (adults and children). Farm is open 10am-10pm. Maze will be closed from 7-8pm for set-up. This is a family friendly event presented by the Youth Group and geared for ages 10-16.

Saturday, October 28

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Family Festival & Bed Race at Cumming First United Methodist Church. The Family Festival & Bed Race is a signature event with all proceeds benefitting Family Promise of Forsyth County, Inc. You can be a part in helping families who are experiencing homelessness regain or gain sustainable independence.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make Vampirina friendship bracelets! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Story time – In this previously unpublished picture book by Margaret Wise Brown, author of the beloved children’s book Goodnight Moon, readers will take comfort in the reassuring world of the little bunny and delight at the attention to detail and hidden surprises on every page. Join us for Storytime, with activities to follow.

11:15 am – Post Road Library  Saturday Family Storytime at Post

1:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Join “Count Cottontail” and the rest of the farm for a “Halloween Egg HAUNT” on Saturday, October 28, at Warbington Farms. The event is FREE WITH Fun Park admission ($12 per person)

There will be four egg haunts:

7:30 (bring a flashlight and geared for older kids)

Dress up in your cutest or scariest costume and win a prize! We will have a costume contest for under three and over three at EACH Egg Haunt. Winners will win Fun Park tickets, CASH, and other prizes. The contest will take place 10 minutes before each Egg Haunt starts. Please be at pavilion gate 10 minutes before the Haunt if you want to participate in the contest. Admission ($12 per person) includes the Egg Haunt, CORN MAZE, hayride, petting zoo, corn crib, slides, swings, playground and MORE! The farm will be open 10am-10pm. Malvi will be at the farm from dusk till closing with their dessert truck selling Hot Chocolate and S’mores!

This exciting event will be held at the South Forsyth High School War Eagle Stadium. Come see some fantastic bands from throughout the state compete for top prizes! If you love marching bands, don’t miss this show! Ticket price is $10/person and can be purchased at the gate at the day of the event. Child discounts = ages 0-4 – no charge, ages 5-10 -1/2 off! iRun BYOT – Forsyth County Schools and the Forsyth BYOT Benefit are partnering to hold the second annual iRun, a 5K race and Fun Run.  The run will take place on October 7 at Shiloh Point Elementary with the 5K starting at 8:00 am and the Fun Run at 9:00 am.  The funds raised from this event will help to provide home internet access and computing devices for students throughout our district.  There is a competition among schools to see which has the most participation.  Register or donate to help our school win!

October 21 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Forsyth County Trunk or Treat Safety Event at the Cumming Fairgrounds. Bring the whole family and have fun while learning how to stay safe this Halloween during the seventh annual Trunk or Treat Safety Event. The family-friendly event will be held at the Cumming Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is one family-sized bag of candy per family. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to Trunk or Treat, which will feature a variety of fun activities and games. There will also be information on costume safety, pedestrian safety, stranger danger, stop-drop-roll demonstrations and more.

October 28 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is hosting their inaugural Family Fun Fest and Haunted Trail on Saturday, October 28 at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitor Center. The free event will feature family crafts, games and nature-themed activities. Also included in the festivities will be a Halloween costume contest for all ages and a haunted trail for ages eight and up. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with the costume contest at 6:30 p.m. and the haunted trail beginning at 7 p.m. The Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitor Center is located at 4075 Spot Road.

Come earlier in the afternoon and visit our pumpkin patch at our historic chapel, where you can play games, listen to a professional storyteller share fall and kid-friendly Halloween tales, find a tasty treat at the bake sale, take your fall pics in a beautifully decorated spot, and buy pumpkins to take home for carving. LIBRARY EVENTS

The Cumming, Hampton Park, and Post Road branches will host Trick-or-Treat Storytime events October 26 through 31 featuring family-friendly Halloween stories, music, and activities. Children are invited to dress up and participate in a costume parade around the library as they trick-or-treat with library staff. Visit the library’s online event calendar for a listing of Trick-or-Treat Storytime programs.

After Halloween, come celebrate Latin American culture and El Día de los Muertos, or The Day of the Dead, with storyteller Barry Stewart Mann at the Cumming Library on Thursday, November 2 at 6:30 p.m. This special One World Forsyth program will be hosted during the library’s regularly scheduled Twilight Tales storytime and is sponsored by FCPL Friends & Advocates, an independent non-profit organization that raises funds for library programs and materials through sales at the Friends Bookstores. Barry Stewart Mann’s captivating program includes a selection of stories and poetry from Mexico and across Latin America told in both English and Spanish.

Trunk or Treat Dawsonville October 31 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Rock Creek Park, Dawsonville, GA – Come out to Rock Creek on Halloween 4:00-7:00PM to trunk-or-treat with your family! The purpose of this event is to provide the children in the community with a safe place to trick-or-treat. Rock Creek is a well-lit area that provides plenty of parking, restrooms, and easy access! We will designate a specific area in the park for the trunk-or-treat and have it sectioned off so that vehicle traffic will not be permitted, providing a traffic-free area for the children. Admission is free and so are most of the activities; concessions/dinner will be available for purchase. CANDY, treats/toys, promotional items/freebies, carnival games, bounce house, hay rides, face painting, MORE CANDY! Sorry, no pets (service animals only, please).

Trick or Treat Dahlonega – Ghosts, goblins, witches, wizards and more will be wandering the streets of Downtown Dahlonega on October 31st, 2017 at Trick-or-Treat Dahlonega. This event, brought to the community by the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants, provides a safe environment for parents to bring children trick or treating during daylight hours. The event will take place on October 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, rain or shine. Trick-or-Treat Dahlonega is intended for children ages 12 and under and appropriate costumes are appreciated! For safety reasons, the roads will be closed and re-routed during the event.

Pumpkin Patches In and Around Forsyth County, GA in 2017

pumpkin patches in forsyth county gaBelieve it or not, Fall 2017 pumpkin season is here in North Georgia! Here are a few neat places to pick a pumpkin in and around Forsyth County, GA.

For years, we have been going to Kinsey Family Farm in Forsyth County, GA to pick out our annual pumpkin. Unfortunately, the Kinsey Farm was hit pretty hard by Irma, so please check their website and FB page for their open times.

The farm features hayrides, barn animals and catfish to feed in the pond among other fun things. There are picnic tables if you would like to bring a picnic lunch. Sample their caramel apples or boiled peanuts (available after 10/1.) They also have a 25,000 square foot nursery and during the holidays you can pick out a Christmas tree and enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows.

The farm is open every day in October and features a wide variety of pumpkins as well as apples, gourds, corn stalks, indian corn, straw bales, and much more. Check out their fall harvest shop and pick up some apples, salsa, jam, honey, breads, preserves and much more!

Saturday June 3 at 6:30 pm – Pete’s Dragon – Movies Under the Stars Summer Series at Mall of Georgia. As part of the summer series, local bands will take the stage at The Village Pavilion from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and the feature film will shine on a 35-foot big screen at The Village Amphitheatre starting at dusk (around 9 p.m.). Guests can also enjoy a variety of fun games, jump time in bounce houses, summer snack concessions such as shaved ice and more. As always, shoppers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to get cozy for the music and motion picture production!

North Point Mall Carnival – Come visit the carnival Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the parking lot between the Sears and JC Penney stores from 5 to 11 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 11 p.m. weekends. The carnival will have 18 to 20 rides, games, food and restroom facilities.

Pick strawberries at Warbington Farms! The 2017 strawberry season is in full swing!  Strawberry season usually runs till second week of June. Price is $14 (plus tax) for U-Pick and $16 (plus tax) for Pre-Picked. We provide the buckets and do not allow outside containers in the field. Please keep in mind that we do close the field for inclement weather. Berry picking is based on availability and we close the fields once the berries are picked out for the day.

4:00 pm – First Baptist Cumming on Sawnee Drive is hosting “Brother Bob’s BBQ” at during their annual Memorial Day weekend festivities.  There will be live music, face painting, inflatables, hay rides, a dunk tank and BBQ.  There will be a short patriotic salute at the end of the afternoon honoring those who have served. Adults:  $6, Kids: $3, Guests: Free.

Monday, May 29

8:00 am – Memorial Day Run/Walk for Autism. Shiloh Point Elementary, 8145 Majors Rd, Cumming, GA. There will be a 5k, 10k and a Fun Run! This Memorial Day race supports TACA (TALK ABOUT CURING AUTISM). TACA’s goal is to provide education, support, and information to parents to help their children diagnosed with autism be the very best they can be, with the hope of recovery. *The 5k race is the 2nd event in the North GA Running Co. Race Series and the 10k is the first event in the North GA Running Co. Races Series.

Pick strawberries at Warbington Farms! The 2017 strawberry season is in full swing!  Strawberry season usually runs till second week of June. Price is $14 (plus tax) for U-Pick and $16 (plus tax) for Pre-Picked. We provide the buckets and do not allow outside containers in the field. Please keep in mind that we do close the field for inclement weather. Berry picking is based on availability and we close the fields once the berries are picked out for the day.

The City of Alpharetta and Splash Festivals are excited to present the 13th Annual Alpharetta Arts Streetfest on Memorial Day weekend- May 27, 28 and 29, 2017.  This 3 day event will host more than 90 colorful artisans from around the country will showcase their works in the Alpharetta Historic District.  This much anticipated festival will feature live music, cultural arts performances, entertaining children’s activities, and a variety festival cuisine.
